is it worth investing in a PCMCIA audigy card for my 7700 lappy?

I have it and LOVE it! As far as worth I really have no idea. When I built the computer I went with the best for everything and as far as i'm concerned the Audity2 is the best. God I love my 7700.

I have the same question. I've already ordered my 7700 (with the Intel sound), and I was wondering about the Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS PCMCIA. Because it's PCMCIA, I may just order the part separately once I receive the main system.

What can it do that the Intel High-Definition Audio (24-bit, 192Khz) with 7.1 surround sound card can't (ignoring the obvious fact that Creative excels by leaps and bounds in terms of sound)?

The PCMCIA Audigy gives you EAX3 in games, the internal "HIGH DEF" Intel card does not support EAX 3 in games.

Plus for the internal:

- Poor driver support
- Background hissing
- I have had some issues with games stuttering when audio is played
- mic input is very very VERY quiet with internal sound

I have ordered the audigy now ...

specifically, I have a question about the 5.1 Zalman headphones...when plugged into the internal sound, the side input sounds loud and the center and rear is WEAK!! I guess I'll get it, instead of a peltier block for my desktop
