I especially liked your detailing of how they packaged the items and how you included the contents of the binder and such.

Again, congrats. You waited a long, long time and must feel extremely satisfied right now.

Oh, what's the deal with the logo up front? IS it etched? Does it have lighting in back or is the paint "glowing?"
Thanks Agile. I liked how the silver and white went with the aluminum case. I thought black wouldn't look as good.

The logo is really cool. It's hard to tell in the pictures but its laser cut into the aluminum door panel and then backlit. There's a switch in the door for two levels of brightness. I've added some pictures from a couple of different angles to help you see it better.

These are pictures of it in the dark

This is the little box on the backside of the door panel that holds the lighting for the logo. Notice the black button on the bottom? That toggles the light from low to high. (It doesn't turn off though).

It looks a lot better in person than in the pictures. It's a really kewl feature.

MORE benchies??!! Dude I put a bunch in the review!!! If you think 1.2TB is a lot of HD space get ready for this.... We also have 7 hard drives and an external DVD-R/RW writer hooked up to the computer now via firewire. So the total hard drive space internal and external is really 2.95TB

What do you need that much space for? Do you do a lot of video editing?

Yup, exactly. I do a lot of video editing and capturing movies, tv shows and stuff and burning them to DVDs, etc.

OK. Awesome.

Very nice machine.

This might sound miniscule, but I am very surprised that Falcon overnights CPUs. Our company will never overnight a fragile/expensive item, due to possible damage. AW doesn't overnight for this same reason. I am a bit surprised Falcon overnights their CPUs.

Falcon is very sweet though, I looked at their Frag-book online before I purchased an AW. After seeing the default price for the 7700 equivilant, I closed the page.

Thanks for the explanation and going through the trouble of getting detailed pics. THat looks really sweet. I was wondering about the icon.

Have you looked into a XFX/Netcell RAID card? They are available in 3 port and 5 port for SATA (or IDE). It gives you fault tolerance and spped, and is driverless. Drivers are in card BIOS. Highly recommended, though pricey. The 3 ports start out at around $200.

hey Krew. I waited to reply. I've been watching your thread and hoped that no one messed with it. (actually) I enjoyed reading it a couple (three, four) times. well, Finally, The Almighty Falcon is here! Thanks for putting this together so good. You really highlight this machine as the Excellence it is. I won't bother to explain things to Micro. There is no sense. This is a very respectable Falcon review. It all sounds great and theres no disrespect to Alienware owners. Your a class act. Thanks.

Do you work for a computer company? It's actually really safe to ship computers overnight. I know that because so many companies do it. Here's a list of some companies that ship computers overnight air:

Falcon
Voodoo
Dell
HP
Gateway
Toshiba
Sony
Monarch PC
PC Connection
Envision Computer Systems
PC Torque
Power Notebooks

My company ships about $700k worth of fragile product a day...we NEVER use overnight unless we absolutely have to.

pg is on the mark with his assesment of how bad overnight is when it comes to "soft hands".

I don't work for a computer company. We install/maintain a patented Oil system in restaurants. We have 25 depots nation wide, and have a lot of inventory moving/shipping. All of our equipment is housed in stainless steel, and we still will not overnight our more expensive items. We have to many times been shipped damage goods. A single inventory item can be well over 2k, and simply isn't worth the chance of damage. Since we have stainless cased items getting damaged during shipping I can only imagine what could happen to computers. In my mind It wouldn't even be considered a shipping method.

Two dudes at the MutthaBoards had trheir systems arrive damaged from DHL overnight. After waiting 1-2 months for a rig only to have it arrive messed up has to one of the owrst feelings. I totally empathize with them.

One was in "pieces" (his words) and one expensive rig came with a huge dent (aluminum) in the case. So if anyone is ordering a system, I'd say avoid the overnight and avoid DHL.

Luckily my new system arrived fine. I'd post pics Krew, but don't want to go against the AW rules here since it is a non-AW system.

Take care man.

Oh, I have always used faster and smaller drives. What's the performance like with 2 300GB in RAID.

I am going to need some serious space aas I am dding some MC features top one of my rigs.
