Magnesium aluminum alloy chassis or other sturdy metals chassis

Thread Starter
Hi, I would like to find out the list notebooks (branded and whitebox) currently available in the market having Magnesium aluminum alloy chassis / other sturdy chassis, with the following specs:

Centrino (Dothan or above),
Ati Radeon 9600 or above,
15" XGA/SXGA+,

I know the MSI M510 has full Magnesium aluminium alloy chasis, while the ECS G556 has alloy cover for the screen.

Do you guys find that a notebook with alloy chasis is sturdier compared with a plastic chassis?

TQ.

The Twinhead N15RB matches everything you're looking for. It even has a spill-proof keyboard!

Check it out here: http://www.discountlaptops.com/index...egory_theme=c1

I wish more places would offer a full-metal chassis, but I guess the don't like to for price reasons. It's a shame.

The Asus W1N is brushed aluminum (It also comes with a brushed aluminum mouse ). It is about $2300-2400, but comes as a complete package warrantied by ASUS for 2 years, globally. It also comes with XP Pro, carrying case, headset, etc. The rest of the specs seem to match up exactly with what you're looking at. Plus it comes with ample RAM and a pretty fast HDD with good size (80/5400).

PROCESSOR: Intel Pentium-M 735 Dothan (1.7Ghz w/ 2mb Cache)
DISPLAY: 15.4" WSXGA+ Widescreen (1680 x 1050)
MOTHERBOARD: Asus W1N w/ Intel 855PM Chipset
MEMORY: 1024MB DDR333 (Expandable to 2GB)
HARD DRIVE: 80GB Hitachi; 5400RPM
GRAPHICS: ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 PRO w/ 64MB VRAM
WIRELESS: Built-In Intel PRO/Wireless 2200 B/G miniPCI
OPTICAL: 8x Dual Layer DVD Burner (Pioneer DVR-K14AS)
BATTERY: 8-Cell Li-Ion; 4 hours of use
OPERATING SYSTEM: Windows XP Pro w/ SP1a
DIMENSIONS: 1.24" thick / 7LBS
WARRANTY: 2 year global parts and labor through ASUS
ACCESSORIES: Free Targus Carrying Case, Headset, Logitech Aluminum Optical Mouse, 3- 3D Games, 4-in-1 Memory Card Reader

For an Asus reseller, I recommend ProPortable (I got my S5N through them):

There is a $150 rebate for it if you buy it soon.

The Itronix line of notebooks are Magnesium / Aluminum alloy if you can afford them. They are built more for the industrial commercial set. You can purchase or at least try here Expensive
