Help everybody. I need a laptop ASAP, like this week. Budget is about $2000.It will be used for Photoshop, Maya, Dreamweaver, Solidworks and a few other CAD progs. Doesn't need to be very mobile so I am looking at desktop replacement. It has to have:
Nice screen (preferrably 17"), fast processor, lots of memory, very good video card
I have narrowed it down to these:
Fujitsu 6010 - gorgeous screen and laptop but prefer AMD64
HP ZD8000 - nice looking laptop, good video card (upgradeable?)
Sager 4750 - this is what I am leaning towards but hesitant after reading various problems with it. I haven't seen its screen quality and build quality but I want AMD64. If buying this should I buy from PCTorque, Powernotebooks or Sager?

My questions are. Which of the 3 would you reccomend? Powerbook is nice but can't afford to switch the software.
If there are other comparables which you think may fit plase give me a suggestion

I would go with the 4750. It has all the extra optional built in features like TV, Camera, Bluetooth, IR, 64-bit ready etc.

I would go with the 4750 from hypersonic. It's called Aviator AX7. I email them about the Sager 4750 having heat issues and they said they have taken extra meassures to aliviate any of the problems. They put Arctic Silver 5 on the CPU, and do a 72 hour burn in test. They also have the best warranties/return policy and a very good dead pixle policy with an optionl zero dead pixel warranty if you wish. I think anyone considering Sager 4750 should go with the Aviator AX7.

Is it only Hypersonic that fixed the heat issue or Powernotebooks and PCTorque too? PCTorque and Powernotebooks seems to have better pricing but do they actually do the burn in of some type?

Hypersonic seems good but I don't see option not to include OS since I want to load XPPro on it?

Also, I want the 3700+ processor, is the heat going to be too much or should I go for 3400+?

Hypersonic lets you substract OS for -$100 if I remember right.

Just tried configuring at PCTorque and Powernotebooks and turns out the same.
Hypersonic will be about $300 with basically same specs.

Configured at RJTech and was approx $100 more that at PcTorque but was with free dead pixel checking. How big of a performance difference will I see between 3700+ and 3400+ DTR cpu?

Anyone bought from RJTech? Reselleratings seem to say good stuff.

Actually I don't do gaming at all so that is not an issue.

I just want the AMD64 processor for future appsk, ok battery and its speed. I am leaning towards 4750 but one thing that holds me back is the problems I read about in the Sager thread and the notebook seems kinda ugly from pics.
Looks is not the first priority but when you spend 2k you want it to look good.
I looked at Asus AMD notebooks and they look beautiful but how good are the screens on them?
I am still unsure what to get, help

Fujitsu is a reputable company in my books, but Sager is definitely going to be better at service and repairs, if you ever run into problems. THe 4750 has the best value and performance out of the three, and the quality should also be nothing to sniff at. Sure, it's not the prettiest notebook, but notebook owners who look for exterior appearance as their primary criterion seldom find themselves happy 6 months or a year down the road; most of them in fact wished that they could have gone to quality and performance. The looks will fade away, and novelty will wear off; but the performance and the usefulness of the notebook will stay with you for years.

If you go with the 4750 you can throw away your exercise weights... the thing is HEAVY/BULKY.

Go with the R259IA3. 15.4" WSXGA (1680 X 1050) display but will save you the hernia repair bills.
