eMachines M2350 CDRW/DVD Drivers?

I recently bought this notebook on ebay and have had a lot of success with it up until now. What happened was I erased the hard drive and installed Windows XP Pro (comes with XP Home loaded). I managed to use the restore discs to retrieve most of the older drivers to run the hardware. However, I can't find the OEM drivers for the disc drive. Does anyboyd have any idea, because I really would like to be able to watch movies on this system. Thanks, help appreciated.

Basically what happens is I put in a DVD and try to run it with a decoder. The machine almost locks up and displays very sporadically, the video and audio of the disc. My assumption is that updated Optical Drive drivers would fix this problem. Thanks.

Optical drives do not require drivers in anything Win98 and later. Did you install/update the ide driver that XP installs by default?

I presume that would be on the microsoft website?

...checked there...no clue where to get updates...there must be some manufacturer files for these drives...does anybody else have problems playing DVDs? What software do you use?

Is your DVD decoder actual DVD software? You might just need a copy of WinDVD, or PowerDVD. Sometimes can get a nice legal copy off eBay for not much cash. Also if you have an old video card driver disk for a card that has DVD support, it may have WinDVD or PowerDVD on it.
