Heaphones for gaming on 9100 w/ built in sound

Hey, looking for headphones for my 9100 w/ the built in sound and was wondering whats good...i read other discussions on this forum and the Grado SR60s and the Sennheiser HD497s seem to be decent for the price range im looking for...and was wondering if any 9100 owners have any preference as to which heacphone provides a good sound quality...
I can get the HD497 for $40 and the SR60 for about $60, is the extra $20 worth it for the SR60?
Im currently using a $20 plantronics headphone/mic and was looking for an upgrade...but will i really notice any differnce since im using the built in sound of the 9100?

Thanks

What do you mean by "w/ the built in sound"? First I thought you meant an USB headphones but then you've mentioned Grado SR60 which I have ...

Last week I've bought "Centrios Surround Sound Headphones" from CircuitCity http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Centr...oductDetail.do - I've paid just $14.99 and it is pretty good thing for the price (especially when surround feature terned off).

Also I'm looking at "DH-720G Dolby Headphone" http://hctstore.com/product_info.php...products_id=28 - I do not trust Zalman 5.1 or other headphones with several speakers (short story is I do not believe that a human ear can hear notisable difference from sound of a speaker located a little bit in front of the ear and sound of a speaker located a little bit behind the ear - especially when these sounds prepared for 5.1 theater speaker and sound from front lelt channel, for example, supposed to be heard by right ear as well) and believe that "Dolby Headphone" technology developed specifically for headphones.

by "built in sound" i meant not an external/interal pci/pcmcia sound card, but the sound is built into the motherboard....as in the 9100 with the sigmatel audio
I was looking into the HD497s b/c its more available at a cheaper price than the sr60s....but the sr60s intrigue me..., was just wondering if anyone had any preferences

SR60 or 80s are amazing for gaming but might annoy your headphoneless neighbors since there not in ear ones they'll pick up on the sounds faintly. Try some Shure E2's there great in ear buds would amazing quality which you can pick up for around 70-100s. ipodlounge.com dispenses discounts for headphones you should keep a close eye there.

I use the Sennheiser RS45 wireless headphones because I game and listen to music on my iXPS and love the freedom of being able to move around with out the restriction of wires. Sometimes you do get a bit of hiss but not much. If you want quality sound with freedom of movement go with wireless. be warned though - they are not all created equally. I tried RCAs first and they sucked. Comfortable but way too much hiss.

what kind of range do you have with that?

I recommend the Sennheiser HD280 pro. They are closed, have flat response, solid bass, are easy enough to drive, and $70 from Amazon.com. What more could you want for gaming?

man theres so much information out there and different recommendations for headphoes i swear....i think now im either gettin the sr60s or the 280 pros....i dont have time to acutally go and try any of them out (not that i know where to go to test out those headphones neway), so if it was btwn those 2 for gaming, which one would be better...
i dont care abougt closed or open, since its going to be in my room and noise isnt really a problem...mainly looking for accurate sharp sound

I use Grado 325's, I love em. A coworker has the 80's and he looks on at mine with longing

GSFerrari has recommended time and time again the Sennieser 212pro for reasonably priced cans that deliver in the low end (great for games) and
decent clarity for the discerning ear. I guess it depends on what your using your cans for. Music go for the grado's, games/movies go for the senns.

Check em out at:

They're price at 60.00 but I have found them for less on the web.

Also check out Alessandro's. The Music Series One is a combo of the Grado sr60 and sr120's and is priced in the middle of the two at $99.99. I almost bought them as they were highly recommended on various headphone forums.

Check em out:

I personaly use the Ultrasone HFI 550 paired with an Echo Indigo sound card.

Sweet!
