Anyone know why PCTorque is no longer selling acer?

Hey all

I should address this to PCT, but I am curious why they no longer sell Acer. A few months ago, I was looking at Acers with them, now that I think I want an 8104, I think that PCT would be a perfect vendor to buy one from. Does anyone know why they dropped the line and whether they will pick it up again?

I think Acer is still a good choice for many, but just not for us to carry I feel right now.

We are known (or try to be known) to ship fast, offer the most extreme performance, and the ability to customize many options of the notebook when ordering... we had trouble in all those categories within the Acer line. They won't let resellers customize and they almost always offer a slower HD, RAM, and CPU than what the system could actually handle. Also, even though items are listed as available through distros, a month+ wait was very common.

We tried to work with them on the issues and focusing on what the hard core community wants which is options from low cost to extreme but got nowhere. So, we're backing off for now from it being on our site though we're still authorized to sell.

Hi,

Just out of interest, when would your estimated time of release for the new Sonoma notebooks be? Many are aching to acquire a new Sonoma with the X700...

Thanks

Ahhh, that brings up another point... Acer doesn't really inform distros and resellers of anything before you see it released to the public. I remember reading here about a model being discontinued and talking to our distro about it and them not having any idea of it being replaced lol.
