Oh, my, I cant figure it out.
First, that line was already in my .config, so i figured it was already compiled into my kernel. So I moved onto the next step.
Second, I noted that bluez-libs and -utils are aready installed. Ok. Not that I had any idea to what directory they were installed, So i dled the rpms from suse's ftp server and looked at the info that came with them to find the directories. The packages are spread out accross a number of different directories. Since that seemed to complicated, I uninstalled the packages using YaST and tried to compile them manually and send them to the /opt/bluetooth/ directory. I couldnt just use the drivers from the bluez website, as i figured they were probably 32 bit, so i dled the .src.rpms from the suse ftp and installed them. Then, I unzipped the sources to /data/bt.
Bingo. libs are done
#./bootstrap <Ok, so I have no idea what this does, but it does not exist, and i dont know if its important. So, i am just continuing.
#./configure --prefix=/opt/bluetooth --with-bluez=/opt/bluetooth
#make <i am given two small warnings here "lexer.c:1234: warning: `yyunput' defined but not used," "sdptool.c:818: warning: cast to pointer from integer of different size," "lexer.c:1148: warning: `yyunput' defined but not used
," and "main.c:109: warning: cast from pointer to integer of different size" I do not know if those are very important, so i ignored them.
Bingo! utils installed
So, i added /opt/bluetooth/lib to my /etc/ld.so.conf and
I was met with " File /usr/X11R6/lib/FGL.renamed.libGL.so.1.2 is too small, not checked"
So, ah, i deleted it... and ran ldconfig again, i didnt get an error message this time, and i got the output "/opt/bluetooth/lib:
libbluetooth.so.1 -> libbluetooth.so.1.0.15" (and a heck of a lot of other stuff)
# modprobe hidp
Then i tried to edit my /etc/bluetooth/hcid.conf. However, It does not exist.... Could this be related to my ldconfig experience? It does exist in /opt/bluetooth/etc/bluetooth/hcid.conf, though. Should I just copy it to /etc/bluetooth?
I edited the hcid.conf that I found.
Alrighty, the next problem is that YaST does not recognize that bluez-utils is installed, it understands that bluez-libs is there, but not utils. So how do I get SuSE to think that it is installed? And, without that happening, I cannot install kdebluetooth.
So, anyway, I am just going to continue.
# tail -f /var/log/daemon.log <alrighty, next problem, I get the error: "tail: cannot open `/var/log/daemon.log' for reading: No such file or directory"
Yep, so thats it. Where do i go from here? what do I do about daemon.log and the bluez-util problem? grrr.... I have invested about 20 hrs into getting this mouse to work.
Thank you very much for helping me out though.
