I6000 with X300... worthed?

Apparently, I6000 now has X300 128MB in home section with 34% off!!!.
So with there specs:

PM 1.86GHz 533 FSB
15.4 WSXGA screen
1GB DDR2 Ram
60GB 7200RPM hardrive
128MB ATI X300
Multi layer DVD

after 34% off;
$1463

This seems pretty good price. Since my budget is $1600 max, I can save $150 and use it for future upgrades. My only concern is as you can all guess the video card... I like to play games, but I am not an extreme gamer(HL2 and CS:S is yes)... I wonder if this system is worth buying???
If I can get quick replies I'll be happy..

I just ordered the I6000 2 days ago without the dedicated graphics... Wondering if I should change my order.

Does this mean the graphics can be upgraded later on with like an X800 or something?

changei it! I had the one without the dedicated but look now and youll be able to get the 128mb x300 for $30 so dollars!

I doubt you'll be able to upgrade the X300 inside the i6000 to anything more then a X600, purely due to heat issues. I have a feeling that they would have offered the X600 or higher by now if it was actually possible since the Latitude D810 already has it, and in 2 days the i9300 will have a nVidia GeForce Go 6800. I'd love to know for sure though that you can't, because I love the i6000 except for the graphics.

It is possible to remove the GPU in the model with dedicated graphics; there was a post here that showed the details. I have not heard if Dell will actually offer an upgraded replacement GPU for it though.

not w/ 915GM's i6000

If I am not mistaken, the I6000 version w/dedicated graphics has the 915PM chipset.

Thanks Daddy...

I'd still love to know the heat difference between the different X series ATI cards, obviously the X300 is the lowest of the 4, but I wonder if they put in a better fan in the heatpipe unit that cools the card or something, if they could get a X600 or X700 in the i6000.

Performance is really up to each user. I can tell you that I would never get an x300, simply because I won't take a step back from the geforce 6800 128mb on this desktop in terms of performance. If you enjoy games running at 1024x768 with no anti-aliasing, no anisotropy, and low to medium details, I think you can get away with that x300.

I hear you, I guess in reality I'm not too concerned about gaming on a laptop, but I do want to be able to play some games. Laptops aren't meant to be your main gaming consoles, you can purchase some Desktop Replacement ones that can do a decent job with either a X800 or GeForce Go 6800, but that defeats the purpose of portability. I will always have the latest and greatest in my desktop for half the cost of putting something half the power in a laptop, just the way miniaturization works.

We really need 3Dmark scores to know for sure what this little efficient puppy can do. It sounds promising from ATI propiganda.

Most likely, yes. It has all the DX9 and shader support.

Real Question will be:
What kind of FPS will you get?

how is the x300 compared to the 9600/9700 MR?
The X300 is compared to a 9200 with DirectX 9 support. Whereas the X600 is a little better then the 9600, X700 is better then the 9700 and you guessed it, the X800 is a little better then the 9800.

i thought the X800 was suppose ta be a lot better than the 9800. or is it that you can't compare 9800pro for desktops to a X800 for a notebook.
