Does anyone use the HP Expansion Base?

I'm going to be purchaing a zd8000 pretty soon and it's listed as one of the addons. It looks very cool and it has the extra 160GB HDD. I'm just wondering if anybody here uses it and what they think of it. Would you recommend it? I'm going to be using this notebook mainly as a desktop PC and I'll probably keep it in my room most of the time.

What would you say are the pros and cons?

EDIT: I guess I could have been more specific about the one I'm talking about.
It's the xb2000 Notebook Expansion Base

Whats Up,

I work for hpshopping.com and can tell you if your gonna be getting a zd8000 and just using it mostly at home then it would be a good choice. They prop your notebook up on about a 45 degree angle, also gives ya a wireless keyboard and mouse, internal speakers built into the base, charges your notebook aswell. They are pretty cool hope I was of a lil help.

Cool, would you say the zd8000 is a good notebook? I've been reading a bunch of complaints about them and I'm kind of deciding against it now.

I think its an awesome notebook, been selling like mad. I guess it all depends on what your using it for, the only downside I can see on it is the battery life which is about 2 hrs, but it is a desktop replacement notebook, not meant to be too mobile. Where are you gonna purchase it from? If ya want PM me and I can even call you to talk to you about it from wrk tomorrow or whenevers good for you

Well, I'm just looking at options right now, I wont be buying it for a few months. Not 'til after I got through all my Air Force boot camp, tech school, etc. So it'll be awhile and I'll have to see what's out when I get back. I'm jumping way too far ahead of myself by even thinking about this right now.

the extra hard drive bay for this docking station is IDE or is it USB? what is the size of the HDD (3.5 or 2.5), and can it be change for a bigger one?
I just have the docking station but i bought without the extra HDD... now I need more space for games and songs

In a few months time there is sure to be a completely different range of machines to choose from including Sonoma chips and motherboards being the norm and with there also being machines based on the new compact 64Bit AMD Turon chip (AMD's competitor to Centrino).

So by then any evaluation of machines that you carry out now is going to be redundant.
