Wireless stays comatose when 3790 wakes up

Hi, all. I was wondering if anyone else has been experiencing the following:

whenever my 3790 wakes up from hibernation, the wireless adapter stays off, permanently. Pressing the radio button does nothing, neither does repairing the connection in the context menu...and it doesn't matter whether or not its on before I put the computer to sleep. I have all the latest bios and drivers...any ideas?

It also happens when the computer just sleeps, but not always.

Thanks,

P

Never has that happen to me, and I put my laptop on hibernation 3-5 times a day.

I have a similar problem. If I hibernate or even standby or if I just leave it on overnight, I try to access web pages through IE and it says not found even though the ProSet thingy says it is connected. Today was especially weird. It let me access one website I had open already, but it did not let me open google or this website, until I rebooted. there was a suggestion about a spyware issue in one of the other threads that I have to check on. if that works, I will post here again.

If you have a IP address of 169.X.X.X then you may need to reset your winsockets.

This usually, but not always accures after removing spyware that has installed itself within the winsocket chain, so go to google and search for "Winsockfix" and run it, maybe you'll get your ip address.

Wait up, before you totally get sold on the spyware factor, which is quite possible, try going to a command prompt click start, run... or hit the left microsoft button and then "r" and type "cmd"
type ipconfig /release -hit enter
type ipconfig /renew -hit enter
that should work to "repair" your connection if it gets sluggish or stops.
If that works, then it might not be spyware after all, but an issue with your Connection.
If you like how that works, I can send you a file called clean.bat that does the same thing automatically. Let me know.

hmm thanks Derepente. more rep for ya. I checked and my IP address is not 169.x.x.x, so the winsockets thing is not my issue. once upon a time someone told me about releasing and renewing like that but I had forgotten how because it is not the kind of thing I had a need to do often.

when in doubt, clean.bat

I sent rep points your way as well, cheers! I use this command file frequently to "wake up my connection". Its my first step before considering more severe measures like restarting, or getting up to check the Modem or even worse - walking away and doing something else, heh.

Its most useful right before internet gaming...Battlefield 1942 DC Final! whooah!

well, releasing and renewing does not do the trick for me, so I assume neither will clean.bat. good luck in the finals!

I just figured out my wireless problem had something to do with the firewall (ZoneAlarm). I just turned off the firewall and the internet connection was able to function.
