What CD's did your Dell come with? Restore CD?

I only got Sonic, Word Perfect, and Cyberlink PowerDVD, XP reinstall, and AOL. Am I missing anything? I know I didn't order anything else. It seems like I'm missing the restore cd. My HP and Compaq came with a recovery cd that will reformat and put everything back to it's orginal state like the day I first turned on the pc. It has all the programs that came with the pc already on there....usually it's three to four cds. Does Dell come with that? What happens if my laptop crashes? I can only reinstall the XP program and everything that was orginally on the laptop is gone?

It will come with a XP reinstallation disk. You can recover your computer just using the hidden partition dell created in the harddrive.

I think I rather listen to KISS and Celine and than go through AOL. Anyway, I not a "computer geek" so looking for drives and udating and what not is not easy for me. I'm not there yet in terms of computer knowledge. I just find it easier for me to have total reinstall with everything on there already than go through it one step at a time. I thought Dell came with one, but I guess it's just the XP one.

Mine came with a 'green' disc that had the SP2 in it, with the SP2 already installed. I uninstalled thw SP2 and used the purple disc to put be back on SP1. The Inspiron 8600 was made in December of 2004, shipped to me last week, as a replacement for computer that damaged my eye and right toe.

Looks like I don't need that total reinstall cd(s) afterall. When I put in the new hard drive, it automatically reinstalled everything that was originally on the the first hard drive...with all the preinstalled junk. Are the software's in the laptop so that's why it automatically reinstalled everything to the new blank hard drive? WIERD.

I have the same disc with sp2 in green, the sonic which all the buyers of the DVD+6500A get. I don't use the DVD+R i use the Pioneer DVR-S806 with 16 x 4.7GB and 4x DL 8.5GB. Video capture is done by my ADS "PYRO" A/V Link found at www.adstech.com when on go to top click products then A/V Link w/elements, for unlike others it has *component* input and both are connected to my 8600 thorugh 1294 firewire, but right after the Pioneer I have those de-flagging goodies from the UK www.icos-tech.com 'filters' (MacroMaster 2 and The Stripemaster) when on you'll see the Macromaster 2 'after' scrolling down past the just +, the you'll see the Stripmaster put your cursor on the stripemaster click and see what capabilites it has, which take care of all of of CP the 'disc' carries. I only use DVD 6500A for discs without any protection to back up with the NEC 6500A on puter, like the discs my local Public TV station puts out.
