My Antec Notebook Cooler arrived today. I opened the box and immediately flipped it over on its back. There are four large rubber pads that raises the Cooler by 3/16". The two fans are centered on its horizontal axis. Just above the fans is a storage tray where the power cord can be found.
I placed the Cooler on my coffee table and placed my notebook on top. I then connected the USB cable to power the dual fans. The airflow is circulating toward the base. So, it sucks air from the top and blows it out from the bottom. It is advised not to have anything underneath the Cooler that would block the fans' airflow.
The powercord that attaches to a available USB port has a pass-through. It seems to be a nice feature, but it was not able to locate and synchronize my PDA when attached to it. The Cooler requires up to 0.4A current (2 Watts power) according to the enclosed instructions. The power port is located on the left along with a power switch and a green LED indicator.
The noise level of the fans is tolerable. It does sound louder than the notebook's hard drive but not as loud as the internal CPU fan. There is a strange smell associated with the Cooler. It is a plastic/rubber smell. The smell is not that noticeable when the fan is off. I hope the smell will dissipate over time.
Now I just need to order my 8890!!
