Dead/Hot pixel issue

I know this has been ground into a bloody pulp in these forums, but I just gotta know. On my LCD screen, there is one pixel that is red. If i leave the computer off for a few hours, it disappears when i restart it, only to return in about an hour. I read somewhere that this is a hot pixel. It seems that since sometimes the pixel isn't stuck, there would be a solution to this problem. Any input would be helpful. Thanks!

Some people have reported having success by pushing on the pixel itself, just don't go overboard.

well, i just tried that pushing thing, and it doesn't work, so if anyone else out there has a solution, i'm open to suggestions, thanks!!

It's sad, because I actually did change it to a red background!! Haha! I had it a dark background before, but i couldn't stand to see that little biotch, so I changed everything to red, background, trillian, winamp, etc.! As soon as i learn how to post an image, i'll show you guys!

well, the little fecker is still there, and I was just wondering if anybody can offer more input to this issue, or direct me toward another thread regarding this issue. Thanks!

Put a nice big piece of electrical tape over it, you'll never even know that dead/stuck pixle is there.

Oh and if you draw a big # sign out you screen if the pixle lies in the center box i belive you are qualified for a replacement. Here's a link

Scrool down to the Dead pixle section.

Here's a question...If Sager tests these before they go out, wouldn't it make sence (if the dead pixel is in the center of the #) to just replace the screen instead of just sending it out when they know they will have to replace it.

well, my laptop is over 30 days old, and even if it wasn't, it doesn't have the wide angles screen, so I feel like I was given the short end of the stick, because the offending pixel IS in the middle of the screen, only about an inch away from the center!! I wish there was something I could do!!! ARRRGGGHHHH!!!

Liquid, I am slightly confused. If the pixel is in the centre, why can't you RMA it? Or, if the warranty is out, why didn't you do it before?

the replacement guarantee only applies to the 15" Wide angle on the 5670 and the 16.7" on the 88??, I don't happen to have the wide angle screen, so i'm not covered under that policy. Even if i was, when i first got it, i didn't notice any dead pixels until a couple of days after i got my comp. It only showed up after a few hours of use, then it disappeared, so i figured i would get used to it, or it wouldn't bother me, but now it's all i can see!!

I can certianly sympathize with your problem. Having a dead pixel would drive me nuts (I would return it immediately wheater I had to eat 5% or not...only because I know I can't live with a less than perfect display). Here's something that people have mentioned having success with in the Dell forums:

Gently massage the pixel with the eraser end of a pencil (obviously one with an eraser on it). This may make your problem disappear (at least for a while).

Also...it took 2 weeks for your sager to get to you because Clevo isn't God .

Oh, man. That does hurt. If I get a screwed up screen with my new 5680 I will shoot someone.... If I lived in the US, it wouldnt be a problem to ship it for replacement, but shipping from Canada just bites, price-wise. Oh, man....

well, it's me again, and so far nothing has worked. It seems that i'm not under Sager's replacement policy, so I'll have to find another way to fix this... Do any of you know if there is someone who can fix or replace the screen? Is it possible Sager could solve the problem if I were to pay them? Is there any hope for me at all? Tune in next week to find out!

Stop rubbing that hot pixel.... that won't fix the problem... it will only make it worse.... you need to take a very fine needle and pop that bad boy!!! YEAH BABY!!! Then drain all the LCD juices and drink it hot! Then cut out the empty plastic "screen" and toast it with garlic and olive oil... serve fresh....

Yea I left my 8890 on all night and opened the lid back up and the windows screen saver was goin, but there was a big fat ugly red pixel sticking out at me, but it went away once it was away from the computers heat, I lowered the lid, lifted, and it was back but again dissapeared instantly....hmmm

Like you I rec'd my 8887 with a stuck or dead pixel. It was blue, I stared at it and obsessed on it constantly. On the forum I read about rubbing it ever so slightly to see if it unstucks itself.

For about a week after the rubdown, the blue pixel was still there, but after that week it mysteriously disappeared forever. That was approximately 4 months ago. So take heart, thru prayer, a little rubbing and whole lot of ignoring, your problem just might go away.

Hehe, thanks, there's a little hope left in this world I guess, I just need to ask one thing, could you describe your method of rubbing? Like, did you use a pencil eraser? Did you use your thumb? Did you move in circular motions, or did you roll your finger? I know this all sounds very dirty, but if you could play along with me for a moment, it would be appreciated! Thanks!
