So I just got a Lenovo Yoga 13. This is my review.
As what I primarily do is writing and programming, having a good keyboard is critical for me, which is why a tablet alone can’t work for me, and...
I have owned dozens of laptops in a variety of brands, and had many different laptops provided for my use at work. Without question, this is the finest I have owned. The Alienware M17x R2 is a...
Lenovo Thinkpad W530 Review

One of the longest and most enduring brands in computers is Thinkpad. Originally developed by IBM in the USA, Thinkpad notebook computers are now...
Hi,
Since it is a rumormill - let me put my 2 cents.
If you go to dell and put the following link: http://img.dell.com/images/global/pr..._front_314.jpg
You will get the image for the product that Dell has.
You can replace "9200" with "9300" or "xps2"
You can also replace "front" with "back" "bottom" "right_closed" "left_closed" and "top_closed" (top_closed wont work with 9300 and xps2)
Point being: you can do this for every dell product - but not for 8700. So maybe it is kinda far down the line.
Very true (cool link by the way) but that doesnt mean the 8600 replacement isnt near at hand. For all we know it is called the 8650, or 8750, or 9100, or or whatever. I mean the i6000 pretty much came outta no where. And with the way they are practically giving it away, even with the X300, it could be that they are clearing out their stock of the current set up getting ready to release an i6000 with the MR9700 or something, and truly make the i6000 the successor to the i8600.
I'm going to die if they don't release something like the 8600, or allow the 6000 to have 2.13GHz & at least a 9600 like graphics card or better. I don't really want to settle with the D810.
BTW, the new XPS looks hot!!! It does look a lot like the 9300, with a bit of a fashion change for the case, but other then that, very close to the 9300, I wonder if it will still have a P4 in it?

We can only wait and see I guess.
True - and I agree with everyone who made the point that name can be different. It doesnt make sense to stop a very successful line (8600) with a new Sonoma release, and the Inspiron version of D810 is the most likely candidate.
But I still havent heard any name in any forum .. would really like to know if this is coming up. (Not that I will wait - I have to decide in next 2-3 days)

If you have to decide in the next day or two or three, and nothing new besides the 9300 is announced, what will you go with? Just curious....
I think eventually all DELL notebooks will be either P-M or Celeron-M. INTEL is actually adopting some of the features of the P-M architecture to their desktop chips. The P-M architecture has been hugely successful.
::sigh:: (raises a glass)... To the best laptop Dell ever made.. RIP mighty 8600 ...
Sorry to be so melodramatic, I've had mine for a year, upgraded it from a banias to the dothan, maxed out it's ram, love it to death, and STILL can't find a viable replacement, other than the m70, but waiting on benchmarks of that video card.. (and I require a hardware based port replicator / docking station).. The 810 is nice, but the x600 is barely faster than my current 9600 in my current system.
Come on dell, build me a 8700 with at LEAST the Nvidia 6600 or a 128 meg x800...
Why would they put a Pentium-M in the XPS2? What difference then would there be between the 9300 and XPS2? From the pictures of the XPS2, it looks like it will have a 17" screen, just like the 9300, and you can't get much better in terms of mobility then a GeForce Go 6800, which the 9300 will have? I'm just kind of confused.
I sincerely hope that one of the 1200/2200's, or whatever the model number of the remaining laptops is a 8600 replacement, maybe the 2200 will be the 8600 replacement, and the 1200 will be the 700m's replacement?
Maklar: Hmm, without the resolution it's a little tough to tell.. I had almost 3000 3dmarks in 03 on my 8600/radeon9600 based system.. So, according to his post, he's twice as fast, if he was running at 1024x768 / 32 bit color etc.
But, if I am left with no docking solutions with a decent video card, I'm just going to get the XPS2 and call it a day .. Oh well..
It no longer makes sense to make laptops that are P4 based. I think the only differentiators between the XPS and i9300 will be in the GPU department. The XPS could have a Go 6800 with faster RAM, higher core/GPU clock speeds, or perhaps even a guaranteed upgrade path for a future GPU.

I am also bummed that it appears the i9300 will not have an APR. I really like the APR that came with my i8600 - makes hooking up tons of stuff a snap.
