So now Apple will have an Ipod at almost every price point:

IPod Shuffle 512MB- $99.00
Ipod Shuffle 1GB- $149.00
Ipod Mini 4GB- $199.00
Ipod Mini 6GB- $249.00
Ipod 20GB- $249.00
Ipod 20GB U2- $349.00
Ipod Photo 30GB- $349.00
Ipod Photo 60GB- $449.00

Guess they no longer offer the Ipod 40GB since it's not on their site.

For just $50 why would anyone pick a shuffle over a mini. As a 512 shuffle owner then im having a hard time trying to justify keeping this thing at this price difference.

The Shuffle is for people who want the absolute smallest unit possible. True for $50.00 more one gets 3 more GB with the mini.

Relieved that the 20GB didn't go down since I've had mine for about a month now.

with the flash memory, the shuffle is more suitable for working out, the mini can skip if you jog it too hard.

weight is an issue too. even the minis are a bit ackward to run with. some use the armband. i prefer to use a beltclip, for which the mini is too heavy. however my 512MB mpio w/ display works just fine. i can't even feel that i'm wearing it when i'm running.

Actually the 40 gig can still be had from Amazon. As I understand it the price is $349. Also, the 40 gig IPod Photo can still be had for $379.

I know that the 40 and 60GB photos are a tad thicker than the 20GB. When I was looking at clear cases, they each had particular size on the box. The photo's battery life is rated at 15 hours.

The 40 and 60GB iPod Photos are a tad thicker than the 30, because they use dual platter drives while the 30 use a single platter drive. Consequently the 30 is closer in thickness to the 20GB iPod. So it's a tradeoff for the 40GB iPod Photo...you get more accessories, but it's thicker and heavier...
