have someone check the headphone port, who owns a m70 or a d810?

is there whine like putting your ear close to a sea shell, or is that noise from touchpad activity or even both: whine and noise?

tell me exactly what you heare at headphones. much thx.

( compare with the tread about the latitude d610:

yeah... every lat and inspiron has had that issue... but the touchpad interference is gone with the m70 (at least the one i have)... there is still, however, the ever-present "seashell" sound

ok. you have only the whine and no touchoad interference at your m70?
the whine its cause a sigmatel driver bug for xp. (dell sleep for years to fix that, but its also cause the sigmatel chip is not construct very well! i post in future, how to fix that bug with a registiry hack.)
i have a theorie that the new ati x300 chip make that horribel noice when i move on touchpad, cause the m70 use a nvidia FireGL. so im very wondering about the ati x600, whos built in the d810.
