i looked in the read file and the 71.24 beta does not list the quadro 1400. Must it be installed manually?

Install it by doing a detailed install and saying you have the disk... then I selected the Quadro 1400.

As in the destop Quadro FX1400? Though it's also "NV41", you *may* not get the benefits of Powermizer 5.0 etc.

It's possible you may not get the benefits of Powermizer 5.0, but if Powermizer is anything like Powerplay, then it's in the gpu firmware.

M70 is just a 6000 with a different case and video card, right?

I have installed the 71.84 driver -

what is interesting is that there is no gofx1400 listed in the driver during install but it is listed as that in the device manager.

also - powermizer is one of the options.

you also get the color correction utilty that the oem one does not give you

maya seems to run fine so far on it = seems like a winner!

a side note - I installed counterstrike yesterday and gave it a go - I initially was a bit dissapointed in the performance of the card untill I realized that I had set the antialiasing up to 16x from a previous Maya session. Doh! I set it back and things are great.

You don't mind me asking, cjcox, ofelas and atomman. What make is the LCD in the M70, when using powerstrip etc ? I sent back the i9300, kind of sad to see it go. I have a quote now for a M70. I think it's a good one....

Belarc Advisor, provides info about the screen manufacturer.
I think I may have gotten it from Belarc or Everest 1.51.
Hope that helped.

After overclocking to 375/750, 3dMark05 gave me 3697 3dmarks. This laptop is great so far. The LCD is unbelievably crisp.

Do you guys know what the supposed max is for this card? I have the 76.50 drivers that I got from www.laptop2go.com, and when I chose manual overclock and then let it Detect Optimal settings it came up with like 525mhz core and 1.09 ghz memory. What the heck!?

I mean, that seems exceptionally unlikely when the defaults are 275mhz and 590mhz. How does it go about 'detecting optimal frequencies', does anyone know? I could see it gave my gpu a good working over as it went quite hot while doing it and my cpu loaded out. But I think I'm still ready to try applying them at startup and seeing what happens.

Hey jeremivw. I just got my money back from the i9300 return, last week.
I'm gonna order a M70, very soon. I'd love to know your opinions on your new
machine. Especially on the screen.

Anyway congrats...
