What RAM will work with the T42's?/Whats your opinion on this T42 Cinfig?

just like the title says, im lookin to get a t42, but the ram on their site is SOO expensive.

What ram on newegg will work with it? Im lookin for 1 gig sticks.



The config(Opinions Needed):

NOTE: Looking to get ram from newegg, to save money.

2378FVU
Processor: Intel Pentium M Processor 735 (1.7GHz 2MB L2 Cache 400MHz FSB) (Standard)

Display type: 14.1 inch SXGA+ IPS (1400x1050) TFT Display with wide viewing angle and high density display (Standard)

Hard drive: ThinkPad 40GB 5400rpm Hard Disk Drive (Standard)

Power accessories: ThinkPad T40/R50 Series High Capacity Li-Ion Battery

Just about all memory MFG's have web sites that will tell you what part number will fit your computer. So Go to NewEgg, select one or more Memory MFG's, go to each of their web sites, find out which part numbers you need, then order that part number from NewEgg

Looks like my config, assuming you have the ATI 9600 chip in there.

If it has built in 256MB memory, you could save a lot of money without sacrificing much performance by going with the 512MB stick (I bought Corsair for 85 bucks).

I wish I had the hi-capacity battery. I'll have to snag that when I find some money laying around.

i managed abt 5hrs on my T42 just playing mp3s using iTunes with the normal battery....

That config sounds great, I just got essentially the same thing. I ordered and returned the XGA screen I HATED it, the SXGA screen is utterly lovely. I heart this machine.

Any PC2700 DDR SO-DIMM will work on the T40-42. You can enter the laptop model at www.crucial.com to confirm the RAM specs. Note that the sonoma-based T43 uses different, DDR2 type RAM.
