Are you sure it has a mag base and lid? I didnt find it spec'ed anywhere, and from the photos it looked like it had a plastic base.
alos not eveyone blue money wants a 2inch thick ugly looking notebook so please keep in mind that the m70 is extemly fast in games and is faster than the x700 and im sure rivals the x800 when over clocked. I sure dont want going to a bussiness metting using my dell xps 2 i will just make a fool out of my self

I'm unaware of a 15.4'' notebook that has higher 3d benchmarks than an M70 or the potential to o/clock to such a large degree if your that way inclined ??

i was just treying to say what you just said^^but I disaggre that the m70 gmaing prefromnace is bad. IN a maqtter afact im sure it would beat every 15.4inch notebook out there by at least 20+ fps in gaming. If you clock it right it will be on par with the XPS 2 but then theres the added heat and fan noise, which i just can not take.

I've had my m70 for about a month now, and I love it. I go to LAN parties and do pretty high end gaming without any trouble. My class all have m70s, the sophmores have m60s, and everybody else is older (poor them). I can confidently say that I can double the performance of those m60s without trouble.
In comparing this to my previous Sager (a 3790), the Dell runs quieter and has slightly better battery life, plus I like the modular bay. I'm not much of a fan of Dell's touchpads, but having dual pointing devices makes up for it. I also get tech support here that will support me as long as I'm a Cadet, so I think I'll do some modding (not like I can void the warranty).

Why are you selling your M70?

And I find it hard to believe that the M70 would sell that well... I feel left out with my M60. I don't know of anyone else who has an M60. (At my school anyhow)

Does anyone know anything about any new graphics cards / cpus / etc that are going to be coming out for the M70? I know Dell likes to put a new CPU in there every once in a while but what about the quadro 1440? Doesnt look like anything is coming out anytime soon but was wondering if anyone knew anything? I know dell is going to start shipping notebooks and the like with AMD! =) just wish the M70 had a X2 4800+ in it or something heh

I'm not accusing you of whining, but I can't get over the "new graphic card" questions on this laptop.
I have a $40,000 Avid workstation at work that has the 128mb version of this video card. Somehow I think the 256mb version will do.

how do u have a $40k workstation and u only have a quadro 1400? Why not a q4500? What did your company spend $40k on? Disks? Or the software? doesnt make sense....

I know nvidia has nothing better than the quadro go 1400 available at this time but i was only curious if anyone knew of anything on the horizon...geez

Only certain cards, regardless of their obvious limitations, with certain drivers, have been "approved "(read:will work all the time) with the Avid setup.
The M70 is on the approved list as well, with limitations.
