SATA drivers needed for 9860?

Hi All,

I just ordered a 9860 with the no operating system option. (I've got a copy of XP Pro that hasn't been used.) In addition, I chose to get a SATA hard drive. When I install the operating system, am I going to need drivers for the SATA controller, or does WinXP have the necessary drivers already?

Thanks,
Greg Jewell

Give it a try (what's the harm). But, if it doesn't work, take a look at:

Like the second post says, you may have to get onto google and download the SATA drivers for the 9860's MB.

EDIT: The Intel chipset, as well as Promise ATA/RAID drivers, are available from Sager's website (http://www.sagernotebook.com/pages/tech_sfwrdls.html#1 -- click on 9860). Those should be enough to get the SATA drive recognized, if it isn't already.

with the 9860 you need to install the sata drivers whether your using sata or normal ata, nobody knows why but the 9860 comes with them on a cd and a usb floppy drive to install them
