A series preorder help

What is the difference between the A170 and the A270? The only thing I can narrow down is the Dual Layer support for DVD recorder on the A270. Otherwise, I guess they are the same.

And what is the difference between the 17" WUXGA and the 17" WUXGA with Xbright. This is a listed option for advance search on the Sony site. I thought there is only one type of 17" WUXGA that all the A series uses.

Anyone bought a 'refurb' from Sony before? It has only a 90day warranty. Lastly, anyone have success putting a 3rd party DVDRW on the A series?

I've bought a refurbed a140 and it's been a great laptop. I've upgraded the ram and added the internal wireless and I've been very happy with it.
