The Wait! The Agonizing Wait!!

I placed my order for a I6000 loaded to the gills and now I am in the Dell-Hell waiting peroid.

The status still says pre-production after 3 days. How long does it take to pull some parts off the shelf, put them in a tote and start the assembly process? I know, I know, obviously more than 3 days.

Sigh... there should be a way to choose Expedite for an extra $10.00 for those of us with little or no self control.

Wait... Wait... Wait...

ROFL! I have to wait until April 8 for my iXPS2. Count yourself lucky.

Yes, I should have mentioned that it's supposed to be in my hands on March 10th.

The Dell site says that you have to sign for the system when it arrives so I will have to take that day off and wait by the door.

Sounds like its part of the power savings feature for laptops. Check under the system power properties in the bios and disable it (least thats how it was for my old 8100).

First I would like to thank XJarhead for being so curteous as to hijack this thread for his/her own purposes. I know how difficult it is to submit a new thread asking for support.

I just checked my order status and it has gone in to Production! It only took 3 days so hopefully Dell will be able to meet or beat their delivery date!!

And now, back to you...

In the BIOS setting for laptops there is generally a setting for screen brightness when on AC and when on BATTERY. You need to change this here and then Windows will take its cue from the BIOS.

I just checked the status of my 6000 and it's in Kitting:

Kitting - When a system order is released to manufacturing, the material availability is confirmed and all parts needed to complete the system are placed into a tote. The completed tote is mated with the systems chassis, placed on a conveyor which takes it through to build.

This is moving right along. At this rate they may be able to ship ahead of the March 8th date!

My 8600 is currently in the stage where it fights in Malaysian "Boxing" style and it's kicking all the other computer's asses. Boxing needs to hurry up.

lol deheinx, don't get TOO excited. My D810 went to shipping very fast and then... the dreaded wait... plus purolator doesn't update their tracking info on weekends so all i know is my lappy is on a truck somewhere in northamerica! the waiting game sucks, but i'm not partial to hungry hungry hippo's either.

Moojangles,
I know I shouldn't get my hopes up too high but at least it has now moved in to TESTING so BOXING is only a step away!

LOL on the Hungry Hungry Hippos reference. I wonder how many people even know of that game.

We just have to keep positive and tell ourselves "It will be here soon... It will be here soon..."

ME waiting TOO!

BTW when did you order your 6000?
The waiting is the worst part even though mine went beetter than some of the posts I have read here.

Good luck on getting yours before the 10th. It should just roll on smoothly if you can get the planets and stars to align just so and you can sacrafise the Dell chicken to the Dell gods to make it run on along.

Good Luck!!

My 9200 arrived in my city Friday night but because it was the weekend I won't get it until tomorrow. I don't know what's worse, waiting while it's 3000 miles away or 10 miles away.

Heh. I've waited 10 months for a laptop good enough for me. I stopped caring 6 months ago. Waiting until April for my XPS 2 will be easier since now I have a laptop ordered and a date it should ship. Besides, if it takes long enough, I'll be able to change the hard drive to an 80gb 7200 rpm.

I ordered mine on the 23rd and it stayed in pre-production since thursday... then this morning I check and it's skipped over kitting and build and sitting happy in testing. At this rate I'm starting to get excited about the possibility that it could arrive before the march 9 ship day! I wonder if they speed production or anything for the EPP and business orders? A friend of mine got a desktop the same day and hers will be here tomorrow and had standard ground shipping. I'll tell you one thing, I'll be checking this damn thing every 2 hours until it shows up!
