Just posted a brief review of the Uniwill 2591A3 / Ibuypower Battalion 101 ML laptop over at Futuremark. Some people here have expressed an interest in photos of this machine so I whipped up a brief compilation. All info etc. over at:

Link: Mini Review at FutureMark Forums

If linking directly to other forums is NOT permitted, let me know and I will take the post out. I would have done the entire review using Notebookforums formatting style but I already did the formatting according to FM and did not wish to modify it over again. Hope you guys enjoy the read

Very nice . I wish you luck if you ever have to get it serviced by IBP.

Really? I hope I don't have to deal with their service department then. So far it has been a top-notch experience with that company and the laptop. I am a satisfied customer.

I was too :\

But don't let me rain on your parade. Here's some smashed bananas to a problem free laptop

brought mine from cyberpower...couldnt get the InstantOn to work yet. i dunno y i got this message error of incorrect system ID or insuffiicient disk space....but this system is fast...i love it. although i dun like how the ports are arranged. also i am not used to the high resolution. nonetheless, the viewing angle is awesome.

I had the same Instant On problem after I installed windows and then tried installing it. At first I installed the Instant On software BEFORE installing windows and it worked but the windows partition was named D: and I wanted to be C:. So I reformatted and reinstalled windows and tried reinstalling Instant On following the directions in the downloadable manual from Uniwill website but no go. It'd be nice to be able to get it to work.

Did you get a remote control with yours? I saw a pic of it in the manual but I didn't get one.

I do have to say, the chassis on this baby is among one of the best out there. It looks very much like the Asus M6 on the inside.

unfortunately, i am still experiencing the same problem w/ InstantOn. and yeah, no remote control here (i dun think any1 have it). i saw the remote in the manual on uniwill's website and was excited about it. sadly to found out that it didnt came w/ the system. i think we should call Uniwill about this. what about any1 who has this lappy? any vital info. on the remote control?

Fantastic! I am literally on the verge of getting this same laptop from cyberpower. I didn't even know abt IBuyPower; the only other place I know that is selling this is rampower. I was torn between this and the Sager np3790 which has a 15.4" LCD with WUXGA 1920x1200 rez. In other forums I've actually read that the WXUGA may be overkill. I'm glad that I could see your screen to validate that WSXGA would be plenty for me.

Besides, the Uniwill looks alot sleeker and sexier than the Sager

I did not get my Instant On to work either. I only tried it once, but it had some problem with the DVD I put in. I have not reinstalled it because I figured it would hose my GRUB in the MBR. I will try it again today. Unfortunately, I am not sure that I have 500MB left for a partition. We shall see.

3. IntelĀ® PROSet for Wireless

The wireless light seems to work intermittently (often not on after a reboot) although the wireless mini PCI card works fine even with the light off. Anyone else have this problem?
my wireless switch doesnt seem to work, whether i switch on or off it doesnt affect the wireless network i am using.

For all you that are wanting this laptop, go to www.viciouspc.com. That is where Uniwill fowarded me to so I could buy one. Suffice it to say, I didn't buy one, but man are they nice.

Hmm...the battery doesn't want to charge up to 100% anymore. Gets stuck at 95% max. Anyone else have this problem?
Also wireless light dysfunct...man I am beginning to think this was NOT a wise investment at all...

Edit 1: Updated BIOS to 1.08 and fixed wireless light problem

Oooohhh BOY. I already put in my order and am expecting the notebook by the end of this week. Hang in there!

woo hoo battery now charges up fully 100%. I had to let it discharge completely and recharge completely(one cycle) and it fixed itself.

New Problem: Wireless mini pci 2200 INTEL card has TWO antennae connectors but only the "main" is connected to an antennae...what happened to the "aux" (auxilliary) antennae??!

I don't see why ViciousPC is more advertised. Brand named goods all at cheap prices, and right now it is at 15% off or something. Good deal, says I.
