Just ran 3dmark03 and I'm perplexed alittle. It ran 895 score with the new Omega drivers. I ran a search for other P4 machines
and they where running score of 4 digits, not 3.
Am I doing something wrong?

Machine is:
5670 Sager
512 mem
128 meg ATI M9000
40 gig 5400 rpm HDD
the usual stuff, you know

you might have a lot of stuff running in the background

you can check by going to start, run, msconfig and go to startup

if there's anything you dont want or need when your computer starts up turn it off then restart the computer and the score might go up.

you have a lot of services running that you dont need also

Things that can give lower scores

1) Drivers used
2) Running on batteries with CPU throttle enabled
3) Vert sync enabled, or video settings on quality rather than performance.
4) Like Direwolf said, background programs running.

Also features like AA turned on or running the tests at a higher res.

An 895 score is really not that bad for a 5670 and could be a combination of things. Try the cat drivers, set it for performance and make sure nothing else is running.

What version of 3dmark 03 are you using?
what direct X version are you using?

I'm using the most current version of the downloadable 3dmark and patched. I'm also using Directx 9.
Also, as Adam states, if thats a normal score then I'm happy.
I haven't found anything that it won't play well yet.
I do have one more question though: are the games depicted in 3dmark real games? Because I dig the looks of that "Battle of Proxycon" !!

Okay, here's an update on my 3Dmark03 concerns.
I changed just one setting in the tests.....screen res to 800X600.
The last score was at native 1600X1200 for the 5670.
I installed the Omega drivers 2.4.74a and let it run the tests.
I am now showing 1190 3dmarks at these settings.
.....................gotta get a banana in there somewhere.

Your screen res shouldn't affect it because DX/3DMARK will override it to what you have it set to run at.

JGhost5,

What everyone has failed to point out to you is that your using a Pentium 4 processor makes no difference. The main thing the benchmark is testing is your GPU, and since the ATI Radeon 9000 is a non-DirectX 9 card it is going to have a much lower score than other computers which are using DirectX9 compliant cards.

Your next question/statement is going to be:
But! I have DirectX9 loaded onto my computer!
My reply: Yes you do, but the ATI Radeon 9000 wasnt built for DirectX9 and it doesnt have the capabilities required for Game 4 of the benchmark.

I appluad the fact that you were able to finally get 1190 out of it....

Sorry Adam, should have explained the 800X600 res alittle better.
I switched that in 3Dmark from the default setting.
And right about test 4 not running.
Also should point out that I have no sound running with this test either. I didn't disable it, it just doesn't pick up sound.
Thanks to all for comments, and thanks Adam for selling me a laptop that I consider to be the nicest set up I have owned.
