8890 3dmark03...please post your scores!

Thread Starter
Ok so Ive gotten my 8890 which has the same configuration as the one seen in the benchmarks that were posted by Adam. The only difference is I have the integrated wireless which shouldnt matter. Im using the 7.93 drivers from the cd and Im only getting 2473 as my score? What gives? Of course I spoke to Laura at PC Torque. As usual, those of you that have dealt with them know, she was professional and courteous but in the end told me to contact tech support at Sager. Their techie called me back after leaving a message, and had me change the proccessor setting in the bios that made it throttle down when it became hot for battery life or something to that effect. I did and it didnt affect my score So those of you that have your 8890 please get 3d mark 03 latest build from www.futuremark.com and post your scores! Remember not to change anything in its settings but to simply run it. And if anyone has any suggestions let me know...Im a bit disappointed with 2473 as Sager posted over 3000 and my desktop xp2400 with a radeon 9700 pro scored 4800

BTW my 8890 is 3.2 ghz w HT
1 gig RAM
2 60 gig 7200 rpm drives set on Raid 0
win xp pro installed by sager
nothing on HD except 3d mark 03
I just set up an 8890(it was ordered with no OS).

I installed XP Pro. It is a 3.2, one 60gig 7200 HD, 1024 DDR etc.

It scored 3120 on 3D Mark03 at the default settings.

wow then something is wrong with mine...a follow up here..sager called me back and said they were checking on something for me and will call me back...Ill keep this updated....by the way john..no RAID? 3100 is better than their score and they had a set up like mine. Nice.
My 3D Mark Score 3160.

3.0

1024 ram

5400 hd (no raid)

couple tweaks
my desktop with a P4 3.0 & a Radeon 9800 Pro(XP Pro)scored 6175.

I have not tweaked the desktop a whole lot as I use it for mostly business type stuff.

>wow then something is wrong with mine...

Yea, that seems kinda low. The 8890 I tested has two HD's but they are not a RAID array.

I don't think the RAID Array would affect the 3D Mark score however.

E-Cat, some things you may wanna check:

The Benches Adam posted are without any AA or AF (anti-aliasing, Anisotropic filtering), as well as V-Sync off. If those are are, they will effect score.

Also, what core/ram speed for your video is being reported by 3D Mark?

everything is set up default in the video settings. As far as 3dmark:

Wow... 99.9% of that was unneeded. The only that was important was the GPU speeds...but thx anyway.

Im not sure what the problem is in this case...
Damn that was long as hell lol Wow!!

btw awesome 3dmark2003 posts everyone was your build patched to 330?

Ok another follow up...I disabled my internal wireless by pressing fn +f7 and retested now its 2999 which I can live with for the moment...but why with a 3.2 and raided 7200 drives am I slower than those posted above?
Raid wont effect 3D Mark at all.

RAID has nothing to do with your 3D Mark score. The 8890 I tested has internal wireless.

I dont want to sound like an idiot, but are you guys using DX9?! You should be for '03.

update...2997 w 3d mark 03 build 330 and yes using dx 9.0b...
Thats still kick-a** in comparison with the previous Sagers, don't you think?!

sure it does And I suppose I can live with 2997 But I think the 500 point difference from the integrated wireless on or off doesnt matter as I do most things online...Im still happy with this And thanks to everyone trying to help as this is the best group of people on a forum Ive ever seen...My first Sager was 6 mos. ago with the 8887 and Im sure my 8890 wont be my last and be sure to buy from PC Torque as we all know they go the extra mile and maintain these forums...
