Oh ok...so it wasnt the standard settings in 3d mark correct? that would explain it. Then again why would someone change the settings for a review. When using scores its always the default settings. You always need a point of reference, right?
Quite correct.

However, they bump it up, since they assume that is what readers will want to see, since that is the res most play games at...

"4xAA 8xAF"

How about someone with a 8890 test it with those settings.
Oh.. bloody hell.. THAT explains the low scores.

1280x960 w/ 4xAA and 8xAF is demanding on even the best cards right now..

Our M10Ps could expect around 100 at those settings...

With a 8890? those are some nice figures arent they? overclocked?

Cheers.

Typo up there.. i meant 1000 for score.

At 1024x768, they are nice. But what does it do at 1280x960 with 4xAA and 8x AF?

Im a subscriber to 'Computer Gaming World' and 'Computer Games' magazines. Both magazines normally run their benchmarks in 1600x1200 and with 4xaa 8xaf on. They try and put a card through the maximum punishment they can. Its always been their practice.

Haven't tried to push it further yet...Not sure if I will. My score right out of the box was around 2997.

3.0 GHz
1024 RAM
60GIG 7200RPM

I also tried the newest the ATI drivers edited to run on the notebook but noticed no performance increase. Gonna optimize my system somemore and run it again later.

Hobo thats pretty good Yeah I cant get my memory past 280 either...Eb games delivered me bf1942 secret weapons early yesterday , perhaps by accident, and I didnt get a chance to install it yet on the 8890 but tonight I will. Im curious to see how well it does in comparison to the demo. Ill post results.

Follow up...Secret weapons runs incredible! Its really amazing as I put this next to my desktop running the command console.showfps 1 ,which shows frame rates, theres almost no difference....so in the end the benchmarks are great but whether or not you enjoy this laptop for what youre going to do ( for me gaming) is most important. I just cant wait to see HL2 on this
