Got my 8890 OC'ed with Powerstrip and it looks like I'm stable at 412/270. My 3DMark03.330 score is 3349.

I can up the memory clock more but I start to see some small glitchs during the Mother Nature test. I'm happy with the 3349 so I'll run it for a while.

1. How is the heat when OC'd to such levels

2. Do you notice any performance improvement FPS wise in real games (not 3Dmark)?

3. How much is 3Dmark01 at the OC speed?

Cheers.

i played with overclockin my m10 a couple weeks ago, it ran great at max setting, i didnt notice and heat difference, but its hard to tell, since clevo didnt see fit to put sensors on the board
post #166 of 210
I haven't had a chance to game since I finished OC'ing this morning. Hopefully tonight I'll get a chance to play around. I haven't noticed an major increase in heat but then again, playing a game for an hour or more will tell the story better.

I also don't have 3DMark01. I'll download it and check it out. I'll post again when I have more info.

3Dmark01 on my OC'ed 8890 was 11619. I have no idea if that is good or what.

OK, forgive my ignorance, but arent you going to literally fry your machine with such extreme OC???

The scores you achieved are insane btw. Congratulations

Cheers.

Perhaps, I am not leaving it there, it was merely to see, if when the newer mobility chips come alone, if there would be a significant improvement buying one.
It appears that this machine has room for a lot of better performance, once the better v-cards come along.

I wish I could overclock my 5680 that far. I just tried a few OCs using powerstrip. Even at only 360/250, I'm getting glitches and tearing in 3dm2k3.

The tearing is nothing really...

Mine ran with a few visual anomolies, but hardly noticeable, it would not effect gameplay at all.

MCL, can you run 3dmark01 and 03 for us, so we can see how the 5680 measures up?

I haven't run 01, but my 03 scores (as well as others who have posted them in the past two weeks) are around 3,000.

So what is the general consensus as to what a acceptable over-clock is as far as long-term use is concerned? I mean, as long as it's stable, it shouldn't matter what you run it at, right?
Personally, I wouldnt long term overclock video.
You sure don't need it to run work programs chat in irc or post to forums.
I would do it only if a game is having problems or something,
and since you would be setting the overclock with software changes, its easy to oc then set it back
