8890 3dmark03...please post your scores! - Page 2

how does the scoring system work? is 3 thousand three times as good as 1000? i'd like to know, because my desktop just got 1 thousand, and its about a year old. will my 5680 really be 3 times as fast?
It depends on the video card aka gpu

the m9 didnt have the features the new card does. Hell a lot of old video cards cant support dx9 like the geforce 3-4 and radeon 8500-9200

3dmark03 =\

Why do you guys all insist on using 3dmark03.
this is by far one of the most biased benchmarkers to date and extremely optimzed for nvidia... my suggestion, stick with 2001 gave more accurate results when compairing cards. but then again...if you wana test all the fancy dx9 stuff guess you gotta use 03 ne?

yes I believe you need 03 for the dx9 stuff which is important for our awesome m10 chip Right now I have it running extremly smooth using powerstrip and overclocking the graphics...Im not gonna go too crazy but I have it overclocked to 400 from the core of 350...score is 3250 right now and Ive run 3dmark03 for an hour straight with no anomalies or crashes...
yep try the mem at 300, it should run stable... if you get any glitchs in the benchmark or anomolies just downclock. The desktop cards can oc to 460-500 core but sure the lappys cant go that high but how high

ok ill do that now...im currently dloading the omega drivers as another member said in another post it works great with his m10...any caveats with those drivers? Is it worth it? Of course I set up a restore point first...
Just curious, but since the m10 chips overclock themselves automatically depending on the temperature, isn't overclocking the card manually pushing it a bit?

excellent question....I read about that feature and wondered about that myself....anyone?
I highly doubt it oc's itself

you would have to turn that option on in the drivers I would imagine. I highly doubt it even has such a option since sager wouldnt go to such lengths

put it near the fridge and see if the clocks go up or down but I wouldnt even attempt such since im 90% sure it doesnt oc itself because you have to turn the featuer on. Ask adam for reassurence *sp*
post #31 of 210
Yeah, it probably does need to be turned on, and I don't even know if the current drivers implement the feature yet...

...But, if the feature didnt work properly, I doubt ATi would even announce it.

Yes, the m10's do overclock themselves to a degree. This is taken from the ATI website:

ATI OVERDRIVEā„¢
On-chip thermal sensor enables performance to scale up dependent on notebook thermal environment.

It may not overclock it substantialy, but they will up the performance if its possible.....not sure about this if its running on the battery thoguh.........

Direwolf...it wasnt stable at 300...lowered it to 290 tested it with screen tearing...now it seems fine at 280...did like 5 3dmark03 tests with no anomalies...score was 3350 not bad...havent installed omega drivers yet as Im still having fun playing with overclocking this bad boy This is kinda like getting a pit bull and giving him steroids lol

E, do you FEEL an increase in heat? Just wondering.

no honestly I dont...and one thing I noticed right away when I put my 8887 and 8890 side by side was this fan is CONSIDERABLY quieter than the 8887...I am impressed so far
post #36 of 210
impressive man, now upping the memory like you did will show better results when gaming at high resolutions. The core usually can oc farther than the memory as you have justified

try out some ati demo's man!

280 seems like thats it for me Unless you have any ideas...still havent messed with the omega drivers yet and I dont know if I will...
well if your hardcore you could up the core farther, to find out its limit the benchmark will freeze. Not like you need to go that high. If I was you I would keep it 15 below where it freezes if you do try to up the core to the max lol

core=freezing memory=tearing like you found out

I think at this point 400/280 is acceptable for me I just wonder how this chip would do with cat 3.6 but im not that daring...yet

lol yea, we cant all be greedy

your laptops killing a lot of desktops out there in graphic power
