Warrantech & Screwed

Thread Starter
So my computer has been crashing pretty regularly for the past couple of weeks. BSD with random driver errors and such. I want to RMA it to just see if I can have it repaired but this is where my problems begin.

When I purchased my 8790 in August of last year I purchased a two year Warrantech service plan. However, I was going in and out of the hospital at the time and when the service information was delivered to my house my father decided that it was junk mail and threw it out. Along with my membership number for my 8790 Warrantech plan.

Now Warrantch says they have no records until I register with my membership number but that is pretty much impossible right now. What should I do? They said that my "manufacturer" might have a policy on that but I don't suspect Sager does....

Any ideas what my best course of action is? Thanks!

If you purchased from a reseller, they should have proof of your warrentech 2 yr warranty. Also, your bill should show the additional charges for this warranty. I'm sure that the reseller, Sager would help you with this.

wow im in the same position. i moved and my warranty papers never found their way to my house.

who do i contact at sager/pctorque to get this resolved?

John, I'd suggest emailing whoever you bought the 8790 from (and Ifrit, you'd be getting ahold of PCT). Like Babba said, they should be able to help you out.

John, as for your problems, you shouldn't have to be using Warrantech yet. You're still under the 1 year Sager warranty period, so why mess w/ Warrantech right now?

I received my warrantech contract paper 3 months after the lappy, so I couldn't register anymore and I wasted 100$. Oh well, I subscribed to 2 years of Philips. It's much more expensive but at least they sound like they are very good at what they do (and if they're not, they refund you).

Psicho, I believe that I waited more than 3 months to register my Warrantech contract and had no problems in that regard.
