8890 Owners having trouble with TV Studio?

Sorry for the cross post...this is from my 8890 experience review in the Reviews section but this small bit of it is really more appropriate here:

TV Studio crashes when I click record!!
In order to record a show using TV studio you need to first download the HT version of TV Studio from here. It's the last item on the page. Do not install the drivers, only the program. After that you should be able to use TV Studio to record. I would recommend that you uninstall TV Studio before doing this just to be on the safe side.

I have no sound in TV Studio...HELP!
Go to the control panel and open Sounds and Audio Devices. Under Device volume select Advanced. Make sure the Aux is not muted or all the way to zero. If you don't see Aux, go to the options menu and select properties. Scroll through the list until you see Aux and put a check by it then click ok. When I installed WinDVR (which sucked by the way...had to use the power button to turn the machine off because it hard locked it) it must have set this to zero resulting in no sound for me.

Good to hear there is a fix for this.

PS. Make sure that after you download the file and uninstall TV Studio that you run the installer from the "TV_TUNER_HT\TVFLEET\WIN2000_WDM\DISK1" directory rather than the top level installer.

Hey ayasin,

I just DL'ed & installed the HT TV program & installed it in my 8890. When I hit the "time shift"button, it still crashed. What did I do wrong??

I also can't get time shift to work even though I can record now just fine. I'll continue to play with it and see if I can get it to work. In the mean time if anyone finds the solution please post it .

I did finally get it to work. I don't know how though yet. I'll try to break it again and see if I can fix it. Here are the steps as best as I can figure them:

- cold reboot the machine on battery
- shutdown and cold reboot on AC
- try the time shift

I know that doesn't make any sense but it's all I did that's different and it works now.

What error message? You may have to call Sager on this one...

um... the software came installed (with XPP) on my 8890. I can run it no problem. I can record. When i press "stop recording" and then "play" i get a messager: Cannot Play File. Why would that be? i assume that when i pressed stop, it didn't save the file. Is there something i need to do?

BTW the remote control is dope. I just wish that it would turn ON the lappy.

I have no sound in TV Studio...HELP!

Hey Ayasin, I followed the above procedure and I am still not getting any sound. I can control the sound when it is in TV mode but when I put it on S-Video I get a perfect picture (from my portable dvd player) but no sound. Checked the settings on the player and they work fine when hooked up to a regular TV. I have Aux enabled, like you instructed, and no mute. At my wits end. Anything else you can think of would be appreciated.

no sound with tv turner usig s-videoo

well im having the same proble that wessam was having, im getting no sound when i conect my dvd player to my laptop using a s-vid cable and i also enabled the aux and have tested 3 or 4 different cables that normally work fine..any ideas as to what could still be wrong or have a solution?
Svideo is a video only cable. It does not carry sound information. You'll have to use either the spdif on your dvd, or get an RCA to phono plug to plug it into the audio in port on your laptop

BTW, your laptop has a DVD drive already, why are you plugging in an external DVD player?

You mean, you don't get sound in your A/V setup if the video out is going thru the s-video? I am assuming your audio-out (on the component DVD) is going to the TV/receiver, yes?

Or are you trying to get sound to your laptop from the component DVD? If that's the case, you need audio-out cables.

And I also have to ask, why input your DVD component when your laptop has a DVD player (it should, anyway)? Unless you didn't order the DVD in your lappy, it seems a doubled effort.

Using the TV module in non-US locations

For all those non-US Sager owners out there, you may need to reinstall the TV Studio software (just the software - not the drivers) to enable the video standard for your country. By default Sager tests against an NTSC TV module so the software gets installed thinking the coax input is NTSC.

The "Ext." coax video standard selection (controlpanel -> setup) is selected during installation of the TV Studio software and cannot be changed (the box is greyed out) until you do a reinstall.

If your video standard does not show up when you reinstall the TV Studio software, you may have been shipped the wrong type of TV module.

For more information check this thread.

V4.24 download problems

Well I just downloaded and installed the new TV Studio software (Version 4.24) from Sager's web site.

TV mode works fine. I have picture, sound etc. but when I go to VCR record mode or Time Shift, I get the "we are sorry..." error report.

I know ayasin gave us the link to the 8887 HT version of the TV Studio software but I was wondering if anyone has got the new v4.24 software to work in record and/or timeshift mode?

Is the v4.24 software HT compatible or not?
