Posted this on a couple of other threads, I just noticed this specific 3dmark thread.

Here's my 8100 with a 1.86 Pentium M, 1.5 gigz of 533 DDR2 (mismatched - getting a new 1 gig module soon), and the x700 overclocked. I'll be pushing for the 7000 score after work.

Just scored 5825 out of the box with mine..will have some fun oclocking I am sure.
Cool. Tell us how crazy your willing to get . It looks like I'm the only one on these boards who's willing to push the x700 to the max.

Keep in mind that the prices have recently dropped somewhat, and you can now get the 8104 for only $160 more than the 8103. This is still a chunk of money, but I think a 2GHz processor is still worth an extra $50-80 more than a 1.86GHz (the Ram accounts for the rest). But I agree that if you're going to upgrade your ram to 2GB, then you might as well buy the 8103.

My Inspiron 9300 gets around 4200 in 3dmark05... You can see in my sig that I've updated it a tad, but that still is quite a jump considering there is really no price difference between the two. Of course, I haven't heard Acer owners complain about crappy screens like we i9300 owners do...
4200 3dmark05 is nice for any notebook pc. Very cool. I will just be happy to be able to play a game in a resolution besides 800 x 600!

If I didn't mind having a 17" notebook to carry around with me all the time, I'd probably already have an I9300. But I've seen those in person, and they're just HUGE.

Happy gaming!

Yeah I was considering getting a i9300. It is pretty good performance wise, especially with the 6800go. That was until I realized that Dell's customer service / support sucks, Intel is an evil company, Dell's screens are always pretty bad, and the thing is HUGE and UGLY.

I'm waiting for perpendicular recording technology @ 12,500rpm, 1tb with a 64 bit quad core, 6,240 ghz. 30" fold out HDTV. Should be out July '08. Also, they say Dragon should have speech recognition working by then. Do you think I should keep my Sony PCG-560 PIII 600 until then. I stil have 15% left on my 9mb drive. Of course I had to remove a lot of programs including Word Perfect which then screwed up my registry (a known bug, they say). Any advice?

I can't tell whether your being serious or not...

Anyway if ARE being serious, then my opinion is that if you wait for technology then you'll be waiting forever - if you catch my drift.

My 8101 (1.6Ghz CPU, X700 128 overclocked to 410/400, Catalyst 5.8 drivers) got 2730 in 3DMark05
post #54 of 58
Nice scores burninator. I'm glad you posted, because I forgot to post an update with the newest 5.8 Mobility Catalyst Drivers.

I'm now getting a non-overclocked score of 2537 in 3dmark05!

-Ransom
with the catalyst 5.8 drivers i get 2.576 points in 3dmark05 (not overclocked) instead of 2.377 points with the stock-drivers ...
Very cool. I didn't know what the Ferrari would get with no overclocking on the new drivers, so thanks for the info.

Nice to know our current non-overclocked scores are pretty close (you're up by about 40 3dmarks). It's been said many times before, but these are quite impressive gaming machines.

Do you know what the graphics card is clocked at (stock) for the Ferrari vs. stock clock speed for the 8104? I've read it somewhere, but I can't remember.

Dell I6000d

I have a dell i6kd with 1.6 cpu, x300 128 mb, 512 2 dimms, 60 gig 5.7k and my
3D MARK 05 score is 1219 is this any good should it be better also i was suppose to recieve a 1.8 they offered to give me 360 bucks to stick with the 1.6 what do guys think i should do?
That is pretty reasonable for an x300...about the same score as a 64mb x600 i believe. You should be able to play most newer games at lower settings. The newest games are mostly graphics card dependent, so the lower speed CPU won't make much difference. And since you saved $360...
