Well, I have pulled the 1 512mb DIMM, put it back in, made sure it was seated properly, changed slots. It is indeed a 9000. As it stands now, I am running no drivers as the HDD is a fresh format (infact, it is not in the system right now). It locks up in the BIOS in no more than a min, or restarts the system (the heat sink fan even stops briefly). Sometimes everything powers up, but the LCD stays black, no power.
Since I have the HDD out, if I dont go into the BIOS, I get the "Operating System not found" text... so I left it there for a min while I went to the bathroom. I came back, the system was locked up, but the curser is still blinking. Now, if the videocard is the culprite, shouldnt the curser be frozen too?
I know I just joined this forum, and pretty much specifically for this issue, but I would like to say that I appreciate you peoples help. I run my own forum and people often come to me for help in issues that I am skilled at, and it is quite satisfying to know that I could help someone out.
Thank you, even if this POS is destined to be a boat anchor.
