The XPS Gen 2 is the same chassis as the 9200, no extra chunk. Actually, the original XPS was a custom designed chassis, too. They just designed the bottom part to be slightly recessed and darkened to try to make it appear smaller.
As for the forum topic, it sort of comes down to the differences in the system. We don't really know what the quality of the XPS is until some end users actually get them, but assuming it's OK, you've got to decide if you must have RAID, or you need a minimum of battery life, or you must have 64 bit compatibility. Things like that. Me, I just couldn't deal with the size, the battery life, and fact that the battery is screwed into the 9860. But if Sager comes out with a 17 inch Athlon 64 with the 6800, RAID, and a snap in battery before my XPS ships, I'll probably cancel my order and go with the Sager.
