since the 650 processor take about 25watt less then the 550 processor, would't that combination make easier to put the ultra in there. maybe that's why sager was so quick to put that processor in the laptop. i'm feeling confident that i made the good choice by returning my 9860 and get the 650 over the 550 because i though about the ultra. i also change from the x800 to the geforce 6800 so i can be prepare for the ultra when it comes in.

worst case will need also a bigger ac adapter (180w).

by the way i have own dell's laptop and they are very good and long lasting but i still think that sager is giving you more new technology (dual sata, raid,dual optical, emt64,easy video card upgradability) than dell.

Actually he heard those things here on this board. I personally sent and E-Mail to Clevo asking about an A64 base 17" screen with PCI express noteboook and thier responce was to expect it some time in quarter 2 of this year. So that means anytime between April and June right? (I can post this email again if you would like.) As for the 6800u that is just speculation at this point but it is bases on the Fact that it is in testing at this moment. It has been confirmed by many reputable sources that Yes it is in testing on the 9860 and no Dell has not signed an exclusive deal with Nvidia like they did with ATI for the 9800. Testing means nothing and the time table means nothing without official announcments from the companies involved. Unfortunatley Clevo and Sager do not make anything official until they have completed thier testing and it has a concrete shipping date. They seem to try and get that date withing about 2 weeks of the announcment. So if the card does pass the testing phase it may still have time to be announced and be released simultaniously with the XPS2 since that is still a little ways off.

I'm not going to say Clevo could possibly be bullshitting you cus they're not known for that. Luke has been pretty mysterious when asked about these future feautures so who knows.. An email though is not always solid enough proof of anything, really.. I shall email them myself and see if they offer a similiar response. I encourage others to do the same. If you are right about what you say, then I will be happy as hell. 6800 ultra? i dont even care. just give me an amd64 with x700 or higher equipped on a 17 inch screen. then youve got my money

This isnt a flame either since I just sent PC torque a wire transfer for over $3600 for my new Sager 9860 p4 660 1 gig of ram and the 80 gig drive. I payed the $200 for the 0 dead pixel and got the 3 year with LCD warrantee for mine.

I prefer the 9860 at this time for me because I know it is tried and true. the XPS 2 is still brand new. I mean it hasnt even shipped yet so if you are some of the "lucky" few out there to get the first batch I would feel like a beta tester. I may be way off base and there may not be any problems with this new machine at all but I like to err on the side of caution since it looks like you are paying over $3k for a system I want to be happy with it instead of on the phone constantly with tech support trying to de-bugg the system.
it doesnt exist .. yet. Alienware has been working on one since last november, I know this because i talked to them and was interested in their system until I started reading their sections. Now, if alienware has been testing one out..dont you think sager will put it out first???? Its been 5 months.......again the issue is time.

I guess time will tell then, and when it does will you say I am right?

Sager won't have it out first if Clevo isn't the ODM. It very well may be, but don't take it for granted. And, on a critical note, stop being tardmuffins. All of you. You sound like a bunch of whiney old ladies. The 9860 has it's merits, and the XPS2 has it's merits as well. Stop getting into a pissing contest over a thousand 3dmarks. And besides, reputation and post count has just about nothing to do with being taken seriously.

Ambit I am not saying it isnt comming out I actually emailed Clevo and they told me look for it in Q2 of this year so it should be right around the corner. What I was saying was you shouldnt hold up a machine that doenst exist at this time as a sign of superiority over someone else. Also I thought you had sort of attacked the other person for expressing thier opinion. I happen to share your opinion o fthe 9860 but I dont think we should go after people who dont. I do believe that it should be a little tougher to get other opinions when you are posting in the Sager forum. The people here are Sager owners or Sager fans so I would guess that most would side the Sager way though.

Oh I know all about the Alien Ware AMD notebook as well. I was at the AMD tech tour in Boston and the guys from AMD and Alienware there both told me about it and AMD had said they were trying to work out a deal witd AW to get and exclusive on all thier machines. I have to say, Dell's ODM certainly have their act together with component, vents and port placements. Clevo have shown some pretty awkward designs in the past - including my beloved 8890 which has the vent blowing out the right hand side, where most people use a mouse.

I never thought I'd say this about Dell, but I'm very impressed.

Right , but if you turn the pages back of this thread.. you will see that the dell fans came in here downtalking people with sagers here. I had stated in another place where this topic was an issue" if you are happy with your purchase, who cares what someone else might think?" So the headline here is not me degrading people, It is other people coming here and talking crap. So whose right and whose wrong? I would get the same response from other members if i went into dell forums and tried to play the dells down. Its all logical thinking if you put your mind to it, but I just illustrated the situation if you cant grasp the general idea.

I knew about this amd topic for a while. I just orderedon feb. and Rma'd the 9860 i had last week , due to a lit pixel.

Post your 3dmark05 orb link that shows your sager beating the xps 2. We know you're full of shit. BTW I don't care about what my stupid rep. says. I'm sure it got there because trolls like you didn't like what I had to say. In fact I think I'll add your BS remark to my sig.
