We will not charge any labor to upgrade any of the notebooks we sold. The only charge would be for the compinent itself and shipping

Nice....

What you should charge for is the extra mile to give people the peace of mind.

For example: Additional Small Fee
+ Artic Silver Compound
+ 48-Hours Burn-in process
+ Full system memory test and diagnostic
+ The 24points / 48points inspection and stamp of approval
+ Free software (freeware you could download off download.com, such as spyware and other utilities)
+ etc, etc, etc, etc...

Some people would actually pay that small fee for stuff like that. This will lessen them having to waste time and receive a defective item and shipping it back for repair or replacement. Also, it save them a lot of headache, etc.

Nope........

We will update the BIOS ( to whatever the current version will be ). No charge for artic silver, no charge for testing prior to shipment.

This is all standard for us regardless

oooo even better

Yonah does look very promising, just have a look at all the articles floating around and the IDF stuff from this week. Too bad by the time you ca upgrade to a Yonah, you'll probably think the Go 6600 is too slow.

OOOH Please please (please) help

Drumroll...soon I will make it out of single digit posts, but until then I'm really worried.

So this awesome lappy comes out (the asus we're all talking/drooling about) and I've been waiting and saving for something like this for awhile and I go to order it.

I do all the wonderful rituals of selecting the goodies from the drop menus via ISTNC because they sound like awesome people and they have amazing prices.

Next, my folks are wonderful and just let me put the order on their plastic so I go through and begin the order process, I get all the way to the reciept and start to cry.

There on the reciept in large, bold, RED font is a horrible statement.

"transaction status: DECLINED"

Oh NO! I whimper, what could this mean? Was I naughty last Christmas and Santa finally caught up with me?

So seriously, what's going on? Did I somehow enter the credit info wrong (lame)? Did my 56k connection time out somehow and doom me (i was never actually disconnected during this time) Was the order declined because ISTNC is out of the pre-order phase or what? Is there actually a charge on the card?

Maybe the wonderful ISTNC people will answer these pitiful nub questions and put my mind at ease. and yes I did send them an email right now because i dont want to call at 11:15 pacific time.

It depends. From what I've read, there are 2 ways of installing the Go 6600. If it's installed directly on the motherboard, then it is not upgradeable. However, if it's installed via Invidia's MXM interface (same idea as ATi's AXIOM), then it should be upgradeable. Rick, do you have any further insight? (and wouldn't it be great if it is?!? )

Regarding warranty. The ASUS notebooks are warrantied through ASUS, yet all warranty repairs are performed through thier authorized resellers. We handle the warranty and bill ASUS accordingly.
With regards to the video card, the jury is still out on that. I have yet to be able to pin anyone down from ASUS to clarify whether or not the video card was replacable. At this point I would say NO !

Units are expected to be delivered between Mar 14-21. From that point, orders will be shipped as they were received during presales. Currently the units "should" ship two days after receiving them, worse case scenario would be three days.

@Djembe_Rob: Isn't the nVidia's interface called MXM? But yeah, that would be sweet if it is.

That almost certainly is a problem with the credit card. You may have entered the info wrong, you may not have enough money (unlikely), your credit card may be suspended... there are many options.

It is a three year manufacturers warranty, so I would assume it is from Asus.

I don't think there are any yet. However there should be some shortly. If you go by desktop cards, the 6600 outperforms the x700 by a bit.

I believe it is shipping mid-late March, when they receive the first bunch of them.

We were allocated additional units from ASUS, so far nothing has been mentioned regarding their LCD shortages
