@andhraangle: Hmm... please don't post that kind of stuff here, as it illegal. If you are referring to free games (ie Soldat) than disregard my comment.

I was the same way. But whenever I bought more than 1 game at a time I always played the hell out of one and wouldn't touch the other. Then another month would roll around and something else would catch my attention.

Same thing happens to Cds, I listen to one and the other one or two get lost in the shuffle. Sometimes I'm lucky and will rediscover them months down the road.

I don't see this barebone on Asus' website? If it does contain Azalia and widescreen support, then damn I will be extremely interested.

I don't personally care, but thought I'd point out that the admins don't usually like resellers to post here...
I thought some of the admins were resellers. If so that would be some ass backwards logic.

If I can get this thing painted for not too much money then I would buy it. As of right now I cant stand that ugly bland gray looking color. It looks absolutley hideous. Voodoo's painted Z71V's look really attractive though.

Yes, that's technically true...seeing as how all of the admins are employees of PC Torque, a sager reseller, who also own and operate these forums!!!

There's no problems with resellers being here, as long as they don't flaunt themselves too much, spam the forums, or take advantage of the members...it's all covered in the rules...

What to you all think? See any things you don't like? Inform me!

I'll be sure to write a full in-depth review with lots of pictures. If you have any requests for pictures, tell me here, and I'll take them once I receive it.
Hmm I might have a different configuration from you, but all i see different is the 3 years vs 1 year warranty. I came up with around 1850ish with 2.0 Processor, 1GB RAM, and 60GB 7200 RPM Drive.

If I were spending that much, I would've gone with Acer 8104.

I've ordered almost the exact same system from the same vendor. I hope to use it for a Powerpoint talk out of country on March 20. I'll keep my fingers crossed. When 100Gig SATA drives are available, I'll probably upgrade the Hitachi 7200 rpm at that time. I do a lot of Photoshop and Premiere Pro, so I'll post my experience with the Z71V after I've had time to experiment a bit, probably in early April. Wish us both a good experience!
That's pretty neat, although I was hoping I could get it low enough to pull me away from the 8104. When you get it and do reviews on the supposed 6.5 hours battery life that may sway me, however, as that seems really impressive.

Good luck with your new laptop!

Isn't the 6.5 hours battery life requires you to use two batteries?
well, not as per that website listed at the beginning. It says up to 6.5 and then with two you can get 6-9.5 hours. That's why I'm going to continue to hold off (lol, that and I couldn't get a 8104 right now even if I wanted one). But if this puppy can get ~6.5 hours on one battery and has good lcd qualities, and that nvidia performs well. Well, then assuming there isn't anything glarringly wrong with it that these brave first buyers notice then I might have to go that route.

I wonder is it because of their ALS feature that gives them the 6.5 hours of power.

In dark room, the LCD will DIM down, saving battery. That uses the most battery power in the the unit.
I dunno, that doesn't seem impressive enough for an extra 3 hours over the 8104. I'll just have to wait and see I guess, but I'd assume something more is working there to allow that. What, I have no idea since it would appear to be similar to other Sonoma chipset laptops. Perhaps the battery itself or Asus just did some great engineering on it.

I hope they didn't underclock the X600 a lot to have those numbers. Usually most laptop companies will underclock the graphics card to have better battery number.

Such as Uniwill 259IA, the ATI9700 is unclocked. You could get around it using the Omega Drive and bring the clock back up.
I can vouch for the battery savings by screen dimming...
ever since using a special screen dimming software on the tungsten e, the battery life does improve very significantly... u can say almost twice... although i would say 6.5 hours is really a completely minimalist approach...
probably with everything turned off with graphics and cpu on bare minimum power and probably completely turned off harddisk

Definitely a nice laptop. I'm waiting for the W3 and the W5. I'm planning to get a laptop around June. Hopefully the decision wont be too difficult.

Dont forget the brand of RAM and HDD do change the price. Not to mention method of shipping if he included that.
