I'm taking the plunge, finally! (Asus Z71V) - Page 16

it's been pushed back to March 31st of this year, according to ISTNC's website. I had a feeling this would happen, and I'm waiting for a review before I even think of actually buying one.

The word from the horses mouth is - a couple weeks ago, Asus' main distributor was told the landing date was monday the 28th in Asus' office.... about last week, that distributor placed that date as the ETA on their website... about the same time, these other dealers started repeating that date in the fourms and what not.

The truth is.. and still as of right now... the landing date in Asus' office is the 4th. There is only one shipment.. nothing that is coming in any sooner.... nothing that will be coming in for weeks afterwards.... just 1 for right now. Everyone is going to get a few.. just about enough to cover everyone's pre-orders... then they are going to be out of stock for a little while.. But as of right now..... the single shipment to north america is still not here... that means when it does get here..... someone like voodoo who has to paint their units are going to take a while to start getting out.

I'm estimating with the build time and shipping to the customer.... to have the Z71v pre-orders in customers hands by April 15th.. Unless they arrive earlier (in which my estimate would change)... I can't see and END USER with one in his hands before that.
That's the news from the Z71V thread at Notebook Reviews. *sigh* I guess we just have to keep waiting...

I got worried when I read they'd only have enough to cover pre-orders, so I also took the plunge

Welcome to the waiting game, Fulminic! And welcome to the club of those who will own one of the best notebooks out there...

...as soon as it gets here! Reviews aplenty in mid April!

Thanks.. Got the 1.86ghz with the a/b/g card and an extra year warranty. Have the rest of the parts.

Will order the dvdrw in a week, I was like 10 dollars short of getting it all together.
I looked around briefly but didn't find the dvdrw. Where are some good sites to get parts for barebones like modular dvdrw's? I'll probably be ordering everything but mem, hdd and bluetooth, but if I can get the dvdrw separate and save some cash there too, I'd gladly do it. Same with cpu and wireless, but since I don't have any good thermal grease laying around I may just stick with the above parts...

istnc - in their website 'Landing date expected March 31'

and at the same time it says 'Please allow up to 4-5 business days for build, as the product has just become available'

Which one is the latest? In any case, looks like we will be seeing some reviews in a couple of weeks.

the second one is the latest, i think. they wouldn't have stated that it had become available unless it was. i don't think anyone will receive one for at least a week and a half, though.

As soon as we receive the Z71V's at our shop, we will start building all of the pre sold units. Once the units have completed testing, they will ship. We are staffing heavily to try to have all presold units shipped within three days, all other units will ship within 4-5 days after receipt
Despite what others have mentioned regarding a limited amount of Z71V's arriving, that may be the case for them, not for us. As a matter of fact, we are receiving the largest quantity from the first shipment.
We are just as eager to build these units and ship them out, as all of you are to receive them. Once we have firm information, we will respond to all via email.

Argh I just got back from vacation all the while checking IST's site whenever I could, and I continuously see the landing date being pushed back... the 25th... the 31st... I want this notebook so bad!

Now IST has taken down their "Landing on March 31" banner below the Asus Z71v. Maybe the shipment came early? I hope so!
