would you think the "light leakage" be a defect or just a image quality issue?
It is very slight leakage on the screen, only thing I'm worried about is the sparkle affect on the screen which is evident on the greens and whites. On blacks its really nice though. Its first time I have ever seen sparkles face to face. Its like a coat of grease on the screen I hope its not long term. Got some pics going on the photo forum but need help uploading more

Do you experience the leakage when the ambient sensor is on or off? (or on both).

Someone help olli3 post the pictures please. Thanks.

man! mine hasn't even shipped yet!

I received my Z71V at 1pm today! I've taken some photos, but I'm having trouble pasting them into this text box. I see at the top the "insert image" button, but I don't seem to be able to make it work. I hate to look like such a nubie, but help!
In the meanwhile, I'll install Norton and Adobe Video collection so that I can run comparisons with my desktop...
BTW, it looks HOT! Gunmetal grey or not, it's a nice looking rig. Initial impressions: quite, screen looks great, the sound is enormous!!!

what exactly is light leakage, anyway? I'm imagining running colors and all sorts of horrors.

Lol nothing like that. Light leakeage basically makes one side of the screen a bit brighter, because light is leaking from behind. Nothing major...

thanks for the pictures, puddlejmpr! Geared 2 play has now finished its review. Here's the list of benchmarks:

k time to upgrade my shipping before it goes out monday
post #435 of 786
only 3.8 hours on low load? Isn't it supposed to be more like 3.5-6?
the Asus specs say 3-6.5 hours. I never believe the highest numbers, but I was expecting a bit better also. I wonder how effective Asus' Power 4 Gear is, also. They claim that it increases battery life by up to 15%. If the MobileMeter battery life test disabled that, I'd be interested to get "real use" battery life while using it.
I wish they had put in the 6600go Ultra clocked at 450/350(700) because the sager 4880 destroys it in benchmarks if those numbers are correct.
Geared2play also stated that there are drivers that would boost its benchmark scores, and they declined to say which ones, but *cough* omega *cough* educated guesses will undoubtedly abound.

Well, all I have to do is wait for a review of this thing on here, and then I'll be all set to buy it. I wonder how long it'd take to get to Pennsylvania from North Carolina. I'll have to ask the istnc guys about that.

Ground shipping from our location to Penn would be three days
