I'm taking the plunge, finally! (Asus Z71V) - Page 40

coboc is a subsidiary of ABS (abspc.com), which sells the Z71v branded as the Mayhem G4. ABS has decent reseller ratings, although rjtech.com, istnc.com, proportable.com, and discountlaptops.com have higher ratings. if you bought one totally barebones from coboc or RJ Tech, it would come without wireless. You'd also need to get memory, CPU, & hard drive (optical drive comes with the system, I believe).

If the optical drive comes with it, that would super awesome - atm, with 1 GB RAM, 80 GB HD, 1.6Ghz CPU, Chassis, and DVD +/- optical drive, I've reached sub $1,500 (my max target)
If the optical drive is already included, that will lower cost, and should leave plenty for wireless!

*crosses fingers*

I've posted on the coboc forums, but still await a reply - thanks for your quick response Djembe!

The screen is perfect, can't find any dead pixels. There is a very small dark patch in the very bottom right, just a slight shade darker. But it is only in the very corner. Everything else seems very good.

The keyboard is better than my last, I can fee no flex even at the top right. As well, I didn't hear any buzzing on battery

if people haven't already mentioned it; the battery life is more like 2.5 to 3.25 hours, and that's with ALS on full, and just typing. I'm experimenting with undervolting my cpu for more battery life, but I haven't any results yet.
