Screen shuts off at random on 700m

For some reason the screen on my 700m just turns off randomly sometimes. It is not due to any settings or power management. It just turns off and will not come back on unless I reboot the machine by shutting it down hard. Everything is still running when the screen goes black, so I have no clue what the deal is. I have however noticed that if I look very hard I can still see images on the screen, but they are very light and almost look like image burn in, but they disapear when I power down. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Faulty backlight connection. Time to contact tech support.

My screen flashes black for a split second. It doesn't happen very often, and appears to be at random. Hmph.

I have a 17" LCD TV from Dell and and the screen flashes for a second.
