A new religion, XPS2 worship thread - Page 2

This Lappy is made to be plugged in anyways so it doesn't really matter if the leds are on or not. On battery power we can just turn them off

The only thing that bothers me is the screen, but I wouldn't put too much stock into scaled down early review pictures. Hopefully it looks better on the final model in person.

I just don't see the point in this new xps. I just feel Dell has just taken the original and put a new snap on cover, changed the looks a little, and finally put some LED lights in the notebook itself. But I will confess it does look sweet. For the money it's just not worth it!

Yeah, that and added a bigger glossy screen, changed it to use the Pentium M, changed to completely different case, made it thinner and lighter, and added a video card that rivals the latest desktop video cards. Other than those things, it's practically the same machine.

You forgot to add a completely new chipset. So basically it's a completely new model.

I like the XPS 2 looks better than any other laptop with comparable performance.

The fact that it's lighter, has longer battery life, and performs 100% better than the original iXPS, isn't good enough for you?

Good to see Dell going to copper heat sinks... right? Innards look a lot better for heat dissipation anyhow.

Yup, I ordered one. Can't wait for it to get here. I was able to get it through my work's employee purchase program, so I got a 12% discount in addition to the discounts and rebates already available on the system. In addition to that, my work is financing $1350 of the cost interest free. I only had to pay $2500 out of pocket to get the sweet configuration that you see in my signature.

You could have saved an additional $400 by getting $512 memory and getting the 2 gig memory from someone else.

Lol sounds like someone's jealous. I'd get this but i'd be waaaaaaaaaay too self conscious with all the flashy logos / lights.

I considered that. In the end, I just don't care. All I care about is getting that laptop and having it ready to go the moment it comes in.

Lights can be turned off, which i definitely plan on doing. And for the logo, you mean the top cover, silver ribbed thing? Well if you get the replaceable cover, you can put any image you want in there. I'll probably put my company logo myself... or a nice pic of cleavage.

Does the XPS gen 2 have a glossy screen? I understand it has a TrueLife screen but I tried to find if it has a glossy screen on Dell but I was unable to find this information.
