Is the $300 extra for the 2.13 really worth it over the 2.0?

it's not worth it. from reading the other threads it is said to have only a 6.5 % increase not in speed but in other apps like compiling things etc...

I would say use the extra $300 for other cool things like DVD burner or faster Harddrive.

Alright, thanks for the quick replies. Sorry for being repetitive.

I'm getting it. I flopped back and forth when deciding. The factor for me was some benchmarks that showed the 2.13 performing similarly to the AMD 64 4000 and the P4 3.6 in many tests. But then I'm not sacrificing anything else either. I'm getting 2 gig ram and a large fast harddrive, too. If I had to sacrifice something, I would definitely sacrifice on the processor first.

You're sacrificing your future, son. Save your money for retirement. In 20 years, that $500 or so could mean the difference between eating at a fine restaurant or dumpster diving.

(Just kidding. I own DELL stock, so I'm thrilled whenever I hear about somebody buying a max'd-out system.)

Once, again, I'm going to have both, my maxed out system now, and a nice living when I'm old, too. But those are important things to consider, yes they are.
