Cracking hinge and Flicker worries...should I add the warranty?

Hi guys. I just bought the 7422 from Best Buy on Saturday. I love it so far, but I am very concerned with the hinge cracking I have been reading about on here. I can still add the 3 year replacement plan from Best Buy for $250...and I am strongly considering it.

The 7422 is so new...who actually has the cracked hinges already?

personally- I would see if GW offers an extended warranty instead of BB.
Cut out the middleman.

I don't think they do as of yet, but give it a try before buying one from BB. Best buy has good service, but the turn around time is horrible.

So sad gateway doesn't. I got three year eMachines for ~$180, not BB's ~$250.

I see that many of you add this...I really don't need cracked hinges and I really don't need to get stuck with it.

Would the original 1 year warranty cover this problem?

Let me just say, cracks on many laptops is nothing uncommon. Dell, toshiba, all have some kind of defect.

What the major problem is, the LCD flicker. That I feel is worth the extra 2 years added. When you experiance the flicker, you will want to murder someone.

Are you still flicker free buddy?

Well, the 7405 is flicker free, but I am still waiting for my 6811. I installed the old inverter and am going to get a new cable and inverter. We will see if emachines actually do anything this time. I marked the wire and inverter so this way I can see if they do anything.

Didn't the invertor swap your original perform fix it?

Yep, but obtaining an inverter is almost impossible and being I only have one good one, I thought I may as well take advantage of the warrenty. Plus why not get a new cable?
