4750 upgrade - Clevo D900K

Eurcom answered my query on the upgrade of the 4750:

Me:
"Is there going to be an upgrade to the D470K with Pci-express graphics
any time soon? In other words, a 17inch AMD64 notebooks with the
go6800 or X800?"

Eurocom President Mark Bialic:
"Yes, we are working on D900K - FX55 based notebook; same tooling as D900T just FX55 platform"

This sounds really awesome. No word on when yet, though.

An FX55 in a notebook? I'd never thought of that. I assumed they'd just be putting in a 3700/4000/whatever. That's very surprising.

I wish he had told you when ... I was actually about to pull the trigger on a 9860 tonight ... maybe I still will, since everthing else has said it won't be until Q3 when we can actually purchase such a beast.

Thanks for sharing, though!

Yeah, that's what I heard, too. I sent back another query asking about and estimated release date. For some reason Eurocom seems to announce release dates of Clevo based products before anyone else, but they're usually right and Sager gets them at the same time. I'm buying an XPS2 now, so they basically have until it ships to announce an offical release date to get my business.

The D900 barebone can handle much heat (thanks to Intels hot P4 Prescott processor ). So it will easy handle an AthlonFX especially if it is produced in 90nm structure. But the best on that news is the hope that they will really use Socket 939 (Dual Channel DDR) for the D900K !

If they say its gonna have the fx55 it has to be 939 socket.

Are the current FXs being produced on 90nm? Or is that near future?

OMG !!! thats a freaking good news but what video card does D900K use?

if they really decide to release that beast, it'll be aimed at power-users so your best bet on video cards would be the next installment of ATI's mobility and nvidia's go cards, probably the go 6800 ultra and whatever ATI chooses to toss in the ring with it. (keep in mind this is probably Q3 we're talking about, so maybe it'll be their replacements for those cards if they both choose to move forward at a faster pace with their mobile cards)

I have read that AMD will change the structure of all processors to 90nm till summer 2005. At the moment only the 3000+, the 3200+ and the 3500+ are produced in 90nm structure.
The production structure of the AthlonFX doesn't matter so much because the 130nm FX has a max. Thermal Design Power (TDP) of 104W which is slightly lower then the max. 115W TDP of the P4 Prescott processor which the Clevo D900 is designed for.
