I love my Alienware Area51-m 5500, however, I'm in the process of sending it back to get repaired because of certain issues:
  • I purchased a 30 pack of Maxell Color CD-R, the speed says "up to 48x", however my PC is unable to read the CD's after they are burned, but will burn on them if they are blank.
  • the right front speaker does not work
  • blank DVD-R's appear as full CD-ROMS, and I am unable to burn on them
I'm not sure if it's the speed of the CD-R's that is the issue or whether my DVD-RW drive is faulty, because I noticed if a CD is filled to it's capacity and runs at a high speed the pc wont recognize it and My Computer displays it as just CD-ROM, and when I click to open it, it's blank. I'm very proud to own my PC, and wouldn't even trade it for the 7700 (it's too bulky and heavy, it took time to get used to the weight and size of the 5500)

I have a question for those who have owned a 5500 and a 7700, whats the difference between the two, as far as speed and other aspects?
