M6Ne WSXGA Owners: NEED YOUR HELP!

Hello WSXGA owners. I request the help of one special person. I need you to save your ATI bios to a file and send it to me. The goal of this is to free us poor souls who own wxga-only M6Ne laptops from our imposed resolution.

I have created a special bootable CD image that will allow you to mount your NTFS c: drive with read/write privliges (if you are not fat32). On it is the program ATIflash; with it you can extract the bios for the ATI Radeon Mobility 9700.

The command will be atiflash -s 0 c:/wsxga.bin

In case you think I am suggesting something wicked:

This is perfectly safe, and will not affect your system at all.

I've replaced my WXGA screen with a WSXGA screen. All I need is the bios to make the timings correct. If it works, it will be a major breakthrough for all of us.

First person willing to help - reply to this thread saying you'll help, then email me so that I can send you the Nero .nrg image. My email is mrgraphics@yahoo(nospam).com. Remove the (nospam) obviously.

THANK YOU FROM ALL OF US IN ADVANCE!!!

I sold my WSXGA M6, but might be able to impose on the new buyer. However, your best bet is the Asus forum at www.notebookreview.com. Underpantman is the moderator and he has a WSXGA.

I do have ATI drivers still on a disk, but I suspect you can get them anywhere. They work better than third party ones though.

Cheers

Steve

Hey where did you get the high res screen from?

Definitely let us know if you are successful. You are truly a pioneer.

I'll post over at www.notebookreview.com as well.

eBay baby . . . Samsung WSXGA. Its beautiful even without the timings correct.

I can try to help out... though I would prefer to correspond through this forum and not through email. If you can post the image .nrg file here or somewhere where others have access to it too, then it would be for the good of everyone.
As for the techpowerup.com article, either it's down or my company firewall is blocking it so I can't look at it right now...

any idea how to prevent games in 1024x768 from being upscaled to 1280x800 WXGA??? e.g. "black borders" around the image?????
