Thank you my friend... the do have bad user ratings.. on that site but a lot of times peple only make coments when they have something negative to say....so memory-4-less is
$184.21 for 1 GB stick what is the other closest prices out there?

Memory4Less Experience

I hate to have to chime in on the negative side as well. I ordered 2 x 512MB sticks over a week ago and other the initial order confirmation email, I received not communications. I called them yesterday and was told a sales rep would call me back. Never happened. I called again today and was told that the RAM was out of stock. When I probed further and threated to cancel my order, I was told that Kingston will expedite shipping to me today. I dont believe it.

Kingston's website maps the Dell 9300 and M70 to the KTD-INSP6000A chips, which of course sell for more than the KVR533D2S4

I gotta add to the I am not happy with this company post. I just called and they told me the memory was on backorder, but Kingston would be filling those today or tomorrow. That pisses me off. The site didnt say backorder, and I payed for 3 day shipping. I told them to cancel my order and charge back my credit card. This is ridiculous, I got the same they will expidite your order BS.

I ordered mine last Tuesday from them (2x 512MB, kingston) and they did not ship the thing until like yesterday. It's all good, though because they shipped the memory with UPS next day and it arrives a minute ago thank you god.

If you don't want a crappy company, I'd suggest:

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...208-024&depa=0

It's Transcend RAM, which doesn't have a big name like Kingston, but it's either a good vendor and less well known RAM or a bad vendor and well known ram. Take your pick! (atm it says out of stock, a week ago it wasn't, but the site says it'll be in today).

And if you don't live in a taxable state (poor us in CA), then it's even cheaper than Memory4less. If not then its on the same level.

I'll post how it works out...or doesn't. I'm going crazy because I only have 256Mb.

Just a few hiccups on installation. First I tried to install it from hibernation. No go. Instantly shutdown. Of course...the memory didn't match the hibernation file. Restarted with correct memory and shut down properly. On next startup with memory installed bios gave a "memory changed" message and asked if I wanted to continue or enter setup. I went into setup but there wasn't anything to do. Memory settings said "Dual" but couldn't be changed. Made me nervous because had a 256Mb along with 1Gb and therefore couldn't run dual channel. However after exiting setup it booted directly into windows and worked great. Next tried HalfLife2 which ran horribly choppy with 256Mb. At 1,256Mb it ran smoothly...at highest settings.

Well, I got my refund today. Very prompt I must say, 1 day for it to be credited. Also got a auto notify from Newegg about Transcend. Only delima I have with it, is that it is 64Mx64b, whereas the Kingston is 128Mx64b. Anyone know what that means? I ordered it anyway, will let you know how it works out.

Memory chip sizes. No performance difference.

Size of the individual chips on the memory card. The Transcend has twice as many. Shouldn't effect performance.

Confusted about memory

I bought a 9300 w/512 of memory and want to add another piece of 512 memory to give a gig. I am confused with all of the posting about. Where should I buy from and what should I buy. I did a search at pricewatch.com and got this. Will this work? thanks for the help.

I am pretty sure the i9300 comes with 2 256mb sticks, not 1 512mb stick, and the i9300/XPS 2 only have 2 memory slots, so this won't work.

I ordered my XPS 2 with 512mb of memory (I got 2gb, 2 1gb sticks, from www.mushkin.com) and mine had 2 256mb sticks.

Memory

Oops-- I did not realize that their was 2-256 sticks. Any harm in keeping one of the 256 and adding a 512 ??? I know in previous computers I have done this with no problems.

Definitely keep the 256Mb.

I added a 1Gb to mine. Now I have 1.2Gb. Works great.
