Well what about 1.25 non-dual vs. 1GB dual-channel?
Probably a very neglible difference, which you wouldn't notice in real life.

But would I notice a large diffrence in normal Internet, Word Processing, and some 3D Gaming (like HL2)?

In that case, there should be a noticible difference overall in most cases, especially gaming.

The questions that keep getting asked:

1. Oh noes! No dual channel, that means my computer sux0rs right?

No, the difference is, at most, 5%. Benchmarks on the i9300 have shown there to be NO difference between single channel and dual channel supposedly due to the 133 mhz FSB.

2. Whats better, 1 gig dual channel or 1.25 single channel?

Considering the fact that dual channel doesn't mean much, do you like having more RAM or less RAM?

3. Will I notice a difference with more RAM?

If you are Word Processing, why would you need over 1 gig of RAM? As a reminder, more RAM doesn't mean your computer just starts performing better magically. More RAM allows you to have more programs open at once or gives your computer games like HL2, WoW, Doom 3, and Far Cry some more memory so that your computer does not need to write to the Page File (virtual memory that is written onto the hard drive which greatly decreases performance).

You will benefit from 1.25 Gigs if you like to have Half Life 2 running and you like to multitask with AIM/Firefox etc. Or if you just don't want to streamline the processes running in the background to free up memory.

Well crap..I just got 2 gb so the thing would fly. All I ever do is use notepad and read the Drudge Report...maybe check email. I thought all these threads said to get ram to make the thing run faster. Will the extra ram help extend my battery life? Should I take one gb out and save it in case the other goes bad? I have heard that ram just sitting around without being electrified has the structure of the silicon re-aligned overtime and deteriorates and that the contacts corrode, which is why the factories don't keep large staocks and are always running behind. I heard one person hooked up a small battery, like a AAA, to the ram he wasn't using to keep it in shape. Has anyone heard of this? I thought that was the logic behind always keeping the machine on standby when not using...
