Possum are you talking about the black area where the switch is? I am getting scracthes there too... its really easy to get scracthes there...

Also I got some light scrape + scratch on the area where you place your left palm. It seems like a natural place to get marks because of the heavy usage of wasd

I take extreme care when using the laptop, but seems like these things are impossible to avoid when using it.

I know where you are talking about. It's coming from the inner edge of the screen case when I close mine. I am getting them there also. I haul my around everyday too. I wonder what we can do about that. I don't want to send mine in to get it repainted. I need my laptop way too much to send it in.

None yet for me but I will be extra careful now.

I have begun to see this also..I take mine to work in an AW backpack and this is a case of where it is wear related and bound to happen I guess

Game33 you better watch out because when you think you don't have one, one day you look carefully at your laptop admiring it you see a light scratch!!

This takes the mick a 3000quid laptop and it scratches I would go over the atmosphere if it was mine, me thinks I shall stick with a desktop...

Whats Alienware stance on this just simple wear and tear??? if so then its a bad show that your dodgy paintwork scratches so easy with some systems only being weeks old.

That sounds kinda of ghetto for a 3k+ laptop dont it?

www.alienware.co.uk and kit up a 7700 with the top stuff like 1gig of ram 3.6ghz processor, dual layer burner perhaps a keyboard and mouse and some software ( i need 3d stuff and games, and a tft or crt with it. Coupled with some speakers, now I expect my lappie to be scratch proof.

Bad news Tiger, you will eventually get scratch or rub marks around the area where you rest your palm if you do not use an external keyboard but it is more from the oils on a persons skin but I do not see it as any big deal and I paid $4300 USD for mine..it is more an issue of wear due to use and seems bound to happen..it will not make your machine slower or effect any internal parts, it will be a simple discoloration that is really not that noticeable unless maybe your a neat freak and if so, wear gloves when using it and you most likely will not have to worry abt this issue
